Good Morning!

Morning everyone.

Miss Ava was babysat yesterday by my daughter while I was gone. My doctor is in Brampton so it's quite the hike and my daughter loves dogs. She's on holidays so it worked out well. She was also watching a friends 10 week old Shiba Inu. I thought Ava was small. She's a puppy giant compared to this little ball of spunk. And so cute !!! She was exhausted yesterday from puppy playing all day. That works!

Just heard guns go off. Heard the yotes last night too. Hopefully that is connected.

I think I'll go to the garden centre this week and get some flowers (discounted) for the planters that are desert like.

So much to do each day, so I better get at it. Oh goodie, a heat warning. Stay cool and hydrated.

She hatched 5/6 original eggs. The 6th I took at 10 days as an early quitter. She's looking very proud.

safe trip jimw!

friday today! morning everyone!
too darned hot and humid. and anyone with arthritis will understand what i am saying. this sucks. i need COLD....at least 20 degrees cooler...so i can move again! gah!
pokemon on campus is wearing thin. bigtime. that's about all i will say about that.....and off campus, well, that's wearing thin too LOL. nearly creamed (literally) some kid who walked out onto the road in front of me earlier this week. stopped about 3 inches from her face, both feet on the brake as hard as i could, and if i hadn't had anti-lock she would have been dead. guy behind me ended up on the sidewalk to avoid me....he gave her the what for....while i sat and shook....sigh. some people. i just want to scream "get your heads out of your phones for a few minutes!!!! like when you are crossing the street, or driving, or working!!!!!" it IS the zombie apocalypse. right here. right now.

happy day today! one of our students is finishing her PhD! yay! celebration bbq coming up-of course the weather report says rain for the bbq LOL. always nice to see one of them succeed and move on to do things they want to do to make their own way in the world! great feeling!
ah, looking forward to the weekend. finishing up the bean harvesting, and weeding in the garden and then doing some things in the barn, moving some birds around, cleaning out the coop that is sitting empty....got a custom hatch order for september, so have to start setting and incubating....all those birds head to new home at hatch.

hope everyone has a great day!

Congrats new life always cheers me up.
Heading to Kingston to check out the sheep dog trial, noticed there is more exhibitors from every state of the Union then Ontario.
DH was yelling after me, don't buy any puppies or sheep!!!
Didn't mention to him what the going price for mutts is these days more likely to pick up a flock of sheep then one puppy.
Jim what are you bringing for us this time?
Have a good one!

Congrats to the student, always a tense time. Curious to know how the trials go, I keep thinking of getting a shepherds crook to help with the turkeys. Looking forward to Jims report too LOL!

Good Afternoon

Took 3 Muscovy drakes to the auction this morning. There is one I am unsure of so I kept it back. Boy it was hard to leave them there. I know they are spoiled here and in my self righteous ways I assume nobody else will take such good care of them. I just love ducks and wish I could keep them all, but too many drakes, is too many. They had a few dozen chocolate Muscovy 3-5 days olds. If I felt better and up for the extra work, I potentially would of stayed to bid on them. I really would like a few more female Muscovys.

The place smelt so bad today. Someone brought in a whole slew of what I'm thinking is production reds and they were covered in poop. It was so hot and all that crap, man it was hard to not toss my cookies. Then there was this dude. His legs must of been in pain. Not the first time I have seen scaley mites to this degree over there. I don't know why people take such poop care of their animals. Why have them?

I lost a Easter egger pullet today. It's just so damn hot!! I've added electrolytes - stress aid - to their waterers. hopefully everyone makes it through. She was fine yesterday but they all sleep up in the rafters. They pant and pant and even when let out in the morning a few are still panting. TOOOO hot. Tonight I'm turning the electric barrier on and leaving the coop door open on the main coop. I'm going to assume it's the heat and no I'm not doing an autopsy. If any others die, th

One of my Easter egger cockerels went for $17 a few weeks ago at the auction. Others went ranging from $4-9. I bet it was the American Eagle looking one that went for a good hunk of money.

The heat has been bad Sandy and I have done the same. Added Stress Aid to all of their water bottles. I even have a young bantam Choc. Orp pullet that is having some troubles right now, she was panting and pale on Wed. then Thurs she could hardly get up. Have been syringing electrolytes into her and making a mush with the feed and electrolytes. Seems a little perkier today but still having difficulty getting up on her legs. Thinking it's a bit of heat stroke???
Oh that poor rooster, his feet look sore!!
