I guess I can join this club. Stenosis and arthritis in L4/L5 as well as other locations and problems. 10 years of cortisone shots and then in December, 2011 a fusion was done utilizing 2 bars, 4 screws, and a cage made of titanium. After operation I was good for a couple years, but the warranty must be wearing out. Now have pinched nerves leading to fingers on both hands as well as more lower back issues.
Pills: prescribed; 100 mg Tridural (Tramadol HCL) 1 to 2 tablets every 12 hours. Max 3 a day
Over the counter; Tylenol Arthritis, 650 mg, 2 every 8 hrs. As needed.
Naproxen, 220 mg, 1 every 12 hours as needed.
You just have to keep moving. If you are standing, sit down. If you can sit down, then lay down.
Best treatment suggested by Doctor.....Yoga . If interested, look up video of Arthur on YouTube. He is now the instructor on our video.

you are so right seastar....
i think that's exactly it...don't stop moving. ever.
You can join the scooter club with me and ross. I want a red one. Ross has camo....what colour scooter would you like? LOL.
do they know if its degeneration progressing to other parts? My surgeon says it's so common that the pieces fused to above and below the fusion eventually wear out...which is why he wants to go all the way to T11 with mine, since everything below that is definitely not good...(i just typed not goo, but it is goo...really....lol)
yeah, i'm a tramacet junkie....and a walking pharmacy. at least thats how i feel half the time. but it's better than lying on the floor.....
HUGS.

I have a golf cart that is used around home. We spent the last 10 summers at Mitchels Bay, but got to be too much. Cut grass twice a week there with a push mower and then come home to cut 4, 5, or 6 acres on the zero turn.

So sorry to hear this. Yes the horses will be happy to just cut the grass and you are right, at their age they will probably end up at auction/slaughter house. If you have a run in and blankets they are happy to stay out 24/7 so no stalls to clean.Less chickens can be even more enjoyable you can watch them more and spend less time cleaning pens, a breeder in the states kept herself down to 10 chickens and was still winning everything with her chickens. Perhaps it makes you focus.
Still I know a hard decision to have to make because of pain. Hopefully they will find something that will help you, best wishes.

As the result of a fall I had an incomplete spinal cord injury. I had a laminectomy and fusion from C2-C7. Was a Quadriplegic for a month. If the scans show that the Spinal cord is being restricted in the spinal canal, get the operation. Once paralysed you never get back to original condition.

Yeah...i hear ya G williams! Fortunately my worst level is L2, and the spinal cord itself ends at L1, but the cauda equina is in trouble-it makes an almost 180 degree turn at L2 already....I have spinal stenosis advancing at L3-L5, and already have numb left leg, and pain starting down my right....the surgeon knows....just gotta get that CT then if it's all good i will tell him to book as soon as they can.....I'm worried i already won't get back to "normal" it's been going on 6 years with back pain and pinched nerves, so...i have decided to go ahead if they can, and we'll see how it goes. Feels better to have made that decision, but OMG this health care system works too darned slowly!

Pack your bag , go to emergency in an ambulance & make sure they get at your case . Can't throw you out if can't walk or ride wheel chair & no one to look after you at home wink , wink . All the worlds a stage & we are all actors . This scenioro from my dr when I got new hip . Really works
