Re: Good Morning!
yeah, frostbite going around here too on the welsummer based lines. they have huge combs and wattles and doesn't matter how much vaseline/bag balm i do....i actually found with some birds it was better to not even try the vaseline because they would incessantly scratch trying to get it off! so....i'll have a few with no points this year coming up. our barn is about 10C warmer than outside on a consistent basis in the winter this year, but still awfully cold. but so far so good, i'm surprised i haven't lost anyone yet. i have one old girl that is in a moult and she's doing just fine! gah! and another old girl that is mostly blind, and she's also doing just fine....going through a bit more feed than before, expected though. and lots of BOSS. much more of this though and it's going to definitely weed out the weaker. the turkeys were nesting yesterday. they haven't stopped laying! lots of frozen eggs the last couple of days.
Ross if you need help digging out tomorrow give us a shout. we can come up and help. we had to drive through the south end of the squall and it's pretty impressive on the edge. i cannot imagine how much snow you have and it's still coming on the radar!!!! hang in there, stay warm!
jim, best thing we ever did was barn and hydro....the winter chores are SO much easier. i got one of those pipe heat tapes for the water too this year and so far so good on running water out there too! (shockingly!) when you do run the hydro you will wonder how on earth you did without.....especially on these types of days!
stay warm and safe everyone!!!!

Good Morning all! been gone for a long time....hubby has been doing poorly, intestinal bleed that had him in hospital twice in three weeks, blood count so low they gave him transfusion...(BC 7.9 for those) that know and found he had ZERO iron in his blood....took second trip to different hospital to catch that little issue! Anyway he is finally back to work after 2 months, blood count is up to almost 13 and though he tires quickly he is mostly back to his old self. Still haven't fixed the bleed in intestine but iron IV s and supplements have restored his ability to make new blood cells and transfer oxygen with what he has....waiting on biopsy results from last endoscopy to schedule another procedure to fix bleed.
Been COLD here in Pa ....-10 with wind but nothing like I've been reading you folks are having in Canada...but more than enough for me to handle since hub is housebound. Had a pretty heifer calf born dec. 25...and appropriately named Christmas by the granddaughters, lol. So thankful for the new cattle barn, well 3 years new...everyone is snug as possible and out of the wind though its a challenge keeping them bedded and dry. Several waterers froze and needed their heating elements changed....need to talk to those folks about making the entrance to change the electric cord at the bottom of the waterer ...needed to chip several inches of frozen manure off to get at it, then the bolts were froze fast too, but got it done and LOVE those heated cattle waterers!!!
Plenty of frost tipped combs here, I have several outlaws that still insist on roosting in the tree by the henhouse....and laying UNDER the henhouse...I cant get them but my blue heeler comes out from under there several times a day with an egg, brat...lol, oh well I cant get them, guessing the cats are feasting too.
well happy new year to all, hoping for a break in the cold for all of us....sunshine here today, loving that! Got a load of hay to deliver but first have to make a run around the block to see if roads are in shape for the truck and trailer....HATE driving snow slick roads with that rig but hay customer "just realized she needs hay" .....what did it escape your notice when you picked up and used the last few bales that the mow was empty?????

Oh please, the "powers that be" say its fake and the average joe believes it. Anything with digital photography can be disbelieved.Ontario Chick wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2018 11:11 amUFO's everywhere, but since everybody has got their nose buried in their iPhone, nobody notices them.poultry_admin wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2018 8:35 pmThis question has been bugging me for a while now: On those Aliens.... With all the phones hanging out everywhere capable to take pictures and movies at a seconds notice, where are all the UFOs
The only way you will ever see another UFO picture, is if it photo bombs somebody "selfie"![]()
My brother was a radar tech at CFB Portage La Prairie in the 1980's, he's seen lots of radar blips of aircraft that flow at ridiculous speeds, stop dead, and take off in another direction.
Newspapers in the 1950's were full of reports from airline pilots about UFO's. Now they are told not to report anything or its their job.
Then there's the Disclosure Project. All ex military, ex-aircraft people, and an FAA Investigator with his documentation. Try and shoot holes in this.

Re: Good Morning!
yeah, the photos and the weather camera stream looks nasty! we've had those streamers sit on us too, a few years back where the 402 was closed and all those people had to be trucked out on snowmobiles, we got that one and went from 0 snow to snow to the top of the front door in about 24 hours.....
coming through delaware this morning 2 was lined with transport trucks waiting for the 402 to reopen.....most looked like they'd been there overnight. likely in for a long wait. they should just carry down 2 (which was surprisingly good) and by glencoe it clears up....and head up to the 402 nearer chatham.
just don't you go out and wreck yourself...if it is too much, stay in until it stops snowing and give us a call...
Hi @hayladee !!!!! welcome back!
Glad to hear your hubby is on the mend. Scary though. Hopefully he feels way way better really fast.

you would be welcome to take our weather if you want it....LOL.
I'm ready for spring and it's the first week of january! whoohoo!

Re: Good Morning!
I think a lot of stuff people see are new weapons being developed and that's why the government's response is always, "umm no, we didn't see anything, umm yes we didn't see anything and we are sticking to that story". Example, when I was a teenager many many people reported seeing black triangles flying through the air, suddenly out of nowhere the Americans have stealth bombers, how long were they secretly working on those.
I used to totally believe in ufo stuff when I was younger, after reading about the distance of space etc I no longer believe in ships from other planets. I am more open to the possibility of a parallel universe or maybe even some type of time travel. Most people however who claim to see something I feel are the type of people who saw leprechauns, ghosts or unicorns in the old days and I don't mean that in a rude way if you can understand what I am saying. There is however; always that totally unexplainable event that does happen every now and then which makes life interesting.

WHAT Unicorns aren't real, say it isn't so!
PS. I can't believe how big a liars the government is, how they are always doing secret experiments that end up causing trouble.

Re: Good Morning!
I'm open minded and lots of credible people with stories to tell. We still can't explain how a bumblebee can fly so I am open to explanations. I know brain surgeons can take the cap off the skull and stimulate certain parts of the brain and people "see" God.
The problem is that the human body can't take the G forces of such aircraft manoevers let alone have metal/plastic that could handle the extreme stresses.
And no shortage of gov't experiments that we are not told about. Too much "strange but true" stuff out there: such as the lady that gives off electrical energy and any building she walks into she blows the fuses/breakers. She lives in a log house with propane fridge/stove.
I love the Ancient Aliens show on History channel: 90% of the "theory" is crap and 10% cannot be (in my opinion). How do you stack 20 ton square blocks of stone when we can't do it with today's equipment?

Re: Good Morning!
Ahhh nothin like the snow storms back in 70s when army had to come in& rescue kids at schools . My good old days delivering furnace oil to homes in my 1ton 4/4 using stubble corn fields for roads with large hand pump fuel tank in back. Having to put sheets of plywood over windows after windows blown in . Lived close to 401 & had 10 stranded folk stay at house for 4 days till they cleared . Good times
