Sorry to hear your losses Al, glad to see you got it. After reading this, I went out and re-set my 2 traps with fresh bait, just in case.

thanks for all the support guys! Especially Martin there... he was ready to deliver me a couple more traps. thankfully my landlord has a few I was able to grab off of him. so I have 4 traps freshly baited and on each corner. Thanks again man!

man I hope no one has to go through this. it really sucks! and your right Ross... its hard to put into words.

thanks again all!

I didnt even think to look at the sex of it. I'll check that next time im out. I just came back from a walk around, guna walk the perimeter every half hour or so.

so the lock on my shotgun is a combination master cable lock. its used to hide a key. I keep the key to a small "predator" ammo safe inside it, right beside the shotgun. very safe and secure and takes all of 15 seconds to load the gun. I bought this lock after a fox ran through the yard at the old place. it took me a few minutes to get ready and the fox was long gone.

OMG Al I am so sorry for your loses, that is gut wrenching. We had that a few years ago a group of about 4 juveniles got into the barn. Guess I was lucky they only got 6 when there was so many more in the barn. Our dog is great alarm for coon, got one about a month ago trying to get in the barn, dog went nuts, hubby went out with the gun, coon down!

thanks FRF! I appreciate it! well this is the 4th coon I've had here but the first to cause harm. I've been pretty lucky I think over the last year. my run and coop are coyote proof but I knew it wouldnt keep out coons.

I've been thinking how I could change that since covering the run with something that could keep out a coon would cost a fortune. now I do have an electric fence charger... hmmmm I didnt really want to use it with the kids and all but it was given to me and I kept it around. I think its a good one too. could I run it on a timer so its off during the day when the kids are outside?

oh ya the coon is a male.

Kids will only get shocked once man if at all . It's usually the dog that's a slow learner . Long way from the heart . Luck
