Tom, for bourbon... On the rocks or mixed drink?
I've been to a few scotch tastings, and my choice of drink has wandered: first was brandy, then gin, then scotch. (And my beer is usually a selection from the LCBO: one woman many beers.)
Then I watched Anthony Bourdain's show. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2 ... olina.html

And chef Sean Brock shows off bourbon. Bourbon has become "drink du jour" , a collectors item for old bottles of certain names, and lots of controversy from the theft of barrels from Jack Daniels distillery (not unlike the maple syrup theft from a Quebec warehouse). Plus I have a Mens Journal mag where there was a feature story. The only American Bourbon I like (from the bottles i've tried so far) is Buffalo Trace.
I am an occasional tippler so if you come for a visit I have nothing on hand: if I buy it I drink it.

Baron, I have so much to do today that I have to be disciplined and not read this thread. But I'll be back to it when I have some time!! Miss your knowledge and perspective!

Just got in from a solid weekend of prepping the garden....doubled the size this year..MJ thinks i've lost my marble, yeah, i saved one...lost all the others years ago...the rocks!!!!!...omg!!!!...the rocks....oh well, ill take a pic of the pile when i get my second wind...gonna get into the shower and clean this soil ( not dirt) off me so i look semi respectable for a dinner date with my folks..taking them out for their 63rd anniversary (today May 23)...my youngest is in NYC and the acquired one is working but the other two are going to partake so it should be an awesome time....my trusty Troybilt rototiller threw a belt at the last minute so i had to rent a machine...holy crow, what a rig...all hydraulic..heavier than a a Sherman tank, but chew up soil it did...I need a massage and some lotion for delicate sunburnt skin but its all good...finally these tomatoes will find a home...beauty of a weekend but we need rain BAD!!!...a torrential 2day downpour would be welcome....think i'll have a Manhatten ( bourbon )... Mixed...strained and a marachino to dress it up...ahhhh..life is good
