Good Morning!

Yesterday was the day I had to pick and process a whole lot of peas, a touch warm even for me. Anybody heard of the old british music hall song "she sits amongt the cabbages and peas"? Looked like we were going to get rain last night but no it skirted us again -ugh.Been spraying down the broody coop for the poor girl hope she makes it. See folks at the piknik this pm.

Hope you all have a great time at www's place!!!!! We are hopefully going to FINISH cleaning up this shed and barn tear down today. worked through the day yesterday at 35C here. seriously amazed that the horses and chickens are okay....so far anyways. have fans set up everywhere to just move the air around, not much of a breeze.....downright cool at 24 this morning so i'm just having breakfast and will get out the door to start in a moment. hubby is out there already breaking up the last pieces of the roof...so glad we have some AC in the house to get out of the heat in the middle of the day. i tell ya, quite the farmer's tan going here now! LOL we are apparently having issues in the area with farm equipment-particularly haying and straw equipment lighting fields on fire! haven't heard about that for a few years now...the newer equipment is usually pretty good, but 3 fires in the last week or so...
someone at the Piknik PLEASE fire a wellie down the field for me okay?

sandy, too cute! i love how they go from full go to full stop in about 10 seconds!! let the training begin LOL ;-)
alright. gotta go and get into my awful dirty disgusting construction clothes....no point in destroying multiple sets of clothing doing this stupidity....the shower at the end feels absolutely freakin amazing though....
stay cool everyone! and have a great time at the Piknik out there!!!!!

Good morning!! I hope everyone at the piknik has a great time. Hopefully one of these years, I can make one, that is abit closer to me.

Unloaded a load of straw shortly ago. Man.. sweat literally pouring down my face/back. Felt like bugs crawling all over me!

Had a broody turkey hatch some eggs. A red palm girl I got from Brebis...., and royal palm eggs.... all six hatched. When I pulled out the shells, there was a dead poult under her. Sad. Little bugger makes it out of the egg, and probably got stepped on. This girl is about 3.. can't really remember when I got her from Brebis.... but shes kind of stupid in the fact that she is nearly crippled and wasted from brooding. I literally lifted her off the babies, to clean out the nest. Shes crapped in there too, repeatedly. Stinky mess. Pulled that stuff away, and fluffed up a nicer bed. Put a 5 gallon pail lid down laced with turkey starter, and she had something to eat. Last night, I had the babies out and gave them a drink. This morning, I moved everything close to her, so she can eat/drink without moving, and last I saw, the babies were out drinking with her. So, good, at least they are drinking. They are so cute.

Got the hose soaking again. Its on a haskap bush. Been there about an hour. WAY longer than needed... I needed a coffee break after straw. I picked beans and cucumbers earlier.

Seriously downsizing the garden next year. Holy. Don't need all this stuff for the two of us. AND if my lazy GD children aren't willing to come pick/process.... then to hell with them.

I'm kinda cranky right now.

I hear you on the garden. Neighbour last year was saying about how nice the new potatoes looked. I said that if he would like some he was welcome to dig a plant or two. He didn't want to but wanted me to do it for him!!!!!! Guy is a farmer and younger than me. Honestly.

I get people asking me for the "leftover vegetables" at work.....i laugh and say "come dig or pick them and they're yours". not one has come out yet. actually had one person ask for 3 pounds of asparagus and a monday would be perfect to bring it so they could eat it all week.....um....yeah....NOT.
clawton just came by with the most awesomest bag of cucumbers and a garlic braid for us! THANK YOU!!!! my cukes all burnt and died before i got the sprinkler in. which is okay, because i don't really have room anyways. but so nice!
dog sitting dog goes back home this evening. yay! she is a cute dog....BUT.

the pile in the bin is getting much much bigger and the pile on the ground is getting somewhat smaller....soon we will have to close the back doors on the bin and start dumping in with the tractor. hopefully we can get it all done today and just relax tomorrow before i'm back to work. although, i have been thoroughly enjoying having the time off, maybe i'll just take another week lol.

i have a coon (i think) in the loft of the barn wrecking havoc....water buckets tipped over, both traps were baited and set last night, and both were flipped upside down this morning. sigh. i might need a bigger trap....i'm going to put up a camera tonight and see just what kind of critter i'm dealing with-if it's a big one or just a little destructive one. just ticks me off when water is dumped on the floor sigh. i'm going to try the trick of the brick on the top of the trap and bait again, at least it likes eggs, so easy bait to put out....sigh. always something.

I tie down outside traps & screw inside ones to cross pc 2/4 or floors . No movement , even found large coons could flip blocks if need be . Luck Kathy
