Good Morning!

Post by Maximus » Thu Jul 14, 2016 7:17 am

Crazy windy here too. Broken branches down in the yard. Got some rain, but I think you must of got more BVF. It's still very windy, which somehow makes the hot sticky gross humid air blowing around more tolerable. Last night when I tucked everyone in I felt so bad, up in the rafters panting. Hot air rises guys!! Tried to convince them to all come down and sleep on the ground but they would have nothing to do with it. Those rafters are prime spots! They could be on fire and they'd still figure out a way to be in them lol.

Off to get some Legbar chicks today. My silkie will be sooooo happy! She walks the yard calling for her chicks. Finds a treat (bug) and she clucks and clucks only for no babies to show up. Poor thing. But later she'll be happy!

Just when I thought I had the cockerel mess figured out, who stays who goes, the ones awarded staying power become jerks and now the whole plan is changing. Ugh. Boys! Trouble in every species (wink wink)

Rain is coming today. Apparently 90% rain and storms.

have a good one!

Cheers

Just getting some rain now, good and steady, but doesn't look like it will be much, better than nothing I guess!
Just happy it's cooled off and there's a good breeze....still lots of packing to do so will be much more.comfy.

Morning everyone.

Today couldn't get here quick enough. Yes it's Friday, but this Friday will have me kayaking with a friend at Binbrook Conservation area. Then out for dinner. Sounds fabulous right? Oh it will be!

Have a great one everyone!

Cheers

Got some lovely rain last night too, forgot to open rain barrel overflow and boy did it overflow all over the place.
The nonexistent grass of yesterday needs cutting today, figures.
Started my morning trying to chase a doe out of the orchard, one would think the site of me in my pyjamas yelling SHOOO and clapping my hands would be scary enough, but apparently she thought it was an applause , because she would make couple of steps and look back as if to say, is this far enough? I am seriously getting no respect from these animals.

OC, the deer respect that you are the provider of heavenly hostas and tantalizing tomatoes! They respect the heck out of you lol.
Good afternoon all! Nice soaker last evening, 2nd rain in about a week. I swear the greenery is sighing it's relief! Finally got a good start yesterday on main Garbage Mountain, one of the many heaps of rubbish that the former owners of this place left behind. Attacked it with front loader, chainsaw, shovel. Found under one of the sofas in the pile was a duck sitting on 15 eggs, lucky she wasn't crushed by the forks on the bucket! Candled the eggs and they're very full. Looks like she's been there about 4 weeks, and it also looks like too high humidity . Relocated to a dog cage but mama duck not really happy about it.Hope she settles. Also found was a pile of smashed CFLs and a bucket of rusty AA batteries. Being that garbage mountain was right beside my well, I'm a tetch concerned. Now that the garbage is gone, birds will be grazing there as well...I dug down and took out as much dirt as I could, hopefully any heavy metals left behind aren't enough to do damage to the bird brains around here. Guess I should probably have the well tested again soon also. Sigh.
I'm always a little taken aback when people say TGIF...a little surprised that Monday to Friday jobs still exist lol.
Well, I'm off to enjoy the hot weather before work tonight at 10 pm, days are already getting noticeably shorter, so my internal seasonal clock is ticking... can't grow vegetables in snow...hoping for 3 more months of warm weather, but wish in one hand, poop in the other, and see which one gets filled first LOL! Have a good weekend (???) everyone, and I hope to see you at the PikNik next Saturday!

Good day! Its a weird one... sort of. I whippersnipped abit.... then cut grass. With the head phones on. The radio guy kept saying it felt like 31 with the humidity. Maybe in town with NO wind, and against a cement wall. Its actually chilly out there in this wind. A few little wee wee wee showers blew thru. Dark clouds... then spits.... then sun.... then dark sky... kind of like a november day.

It sure looks so much better with the grass trimmed..... all those seed heads gone. Mower doesn't like to clip them well.

Cleaned out the layers, and put fresh shavings down, which with this wind, will be all blown out onto the barn floor. Their door faces west.

Well, I guess I will make some semblance of supper. Haven't really cooked a real meal in forever. Peanut butter and toast was two nights ago, lol.
