Good morning. Rained overnight, and a little this morning. Its very mild, and overcast now. Not raining. I thought the wind was supposed to start in the night. Decided I'm going to leave all the plants in the greenhouse. IF the wind gets bad.. and they have back down the severity of it... and the power goes out, I will truck the plants inside, in a closed tote thingy.

I planted a whole nother flat of peppers, and some more for friends.... and my tomatoes. NOT planting anything in the ground with tender veggie transplants until June, or peppers even into June. I need to prick out my broccoli seeds, and maybe start some more, so I have a succession going. Maybe plant some more flower seeds. The 4-6 week starts. I already have my petunia's and snaps and geraniums and seed Dahlia's WELL started. I have some Royal Ensign morning glory (doesn't vine), and a few other things.... and I've seen just this morning, sunflowers in the garden sprouted. So time to direct seed some of those.

I've still been splitting wood, and am filling up a second row infront of the first. So nice just working outside, all by myself, with my head phone radio on... even tho wrangling those big pieces my shoulder either turns the music up way loud, or turns it way low, lol.

There is more done to this pile, but latest picture.

Made cinnamon buns yesterday.. Should have take a picture of the finished project, but didn't think of it until I gave most away, lol.

Found a dead pigeon, and emailed the association the info on the leg bands. Found it in the garage, long dead. Seems a 2019 model. Looked to me just like a plain old barn pigeon. How it got in there, and I didn't see it is beyond me. Probably starved to death. Dried mostly, but still stinky.

I ordered some Salsa mix and pectin online, so I am ready for canning season, all set with jars and lids and screw bands. Find myself buying salsa, when I watch most of my garden tomatoes go to waste. Such a pain in the butt to 'shop' anymore, I've been out twice in the last month. I DO have an online order from No Frills.. first time, but slot isn't until the 19th. That was from ordering a week ago. Oh well, it is what it is. My daughter is getting some stuff from Walmart online, and going to wait and have them pack it. Beats dragging a nearly 4 year old and 7 month old in the store, which I believe you aren't even supposed to do that. Her husband works... and both of us (grandparents and Scott's parents), have gotten stuff for them when we've gone out to save them the trip.... and neither of us can babysit the kids while she goes. We both have a Dr. appontment coming up soon. Drivers medical for me. And shes right in after me.. so I will stand by the car and watch mason, while she takes the baby in for vaccination. First and second appointment of the day. They only have 1 Dr. in at a time, in a 4 dr. office.... and only 1 patient IN the whole building at one time. Very safe tho I've been told. When things open up, I can take my medical to the ministry and do the peripheral part. Such a pain in the butt, and horrid time for this to have to do it in the first place!!

Well.... guess I'd better go and do something. Maybe clean the basement. Mostly dry now, so can sweep the floor, and put stuff away I have dragged out... feed the meal worm colonies... Lots to do

Bayvistafarm - If you feel inclined to make your own salsa and can it, Canadian Living has a really good recipe that I have used more than once. It's called "Tomato-Pepper Salsa". It works best chopping the ingredients by hand rather than by food processor (I've tried both ways). It is mild, so I have doubled or tripled the jalapenos for a hot batch.
One day, I'm going to break down and make some cinnamon buns; boy, yours look yummy!

Today I am spending the afternoon in the greenhouse. It's sunny! and somehow we didn't blow away yesterday. i did seem to be a little less severe than they had forecasted, but i hear that right along the lake was super super windy. so it must just have been the direction it was coming from. I still actually put long tie downs over the greenhouse to help hold the frame down. i'm so tired of picking up lexan out of the field.
Rigged up an "anti-frost" system in the greenhouse. My clydes don't use their blankets, so i put a blanket around one of the shelves and put the plants on the shelf at night and the heater underneath on the gravel. works a charm. the smaller area stays at 20C at night even when the rest of the greenhouse drops to -4. yay! so no more hauling flats in and out. itching to see the first asparagus! should be coming soon....although it's not usually until well into turkey season-so 2 weeks away maybe. i need to plant a ton more stuff. the tomatoes are just sprouting, so are my peppers. planted some dill from 10 years ago (seed) and it all sprouted! wow. so maybe i'll see if the strawflower seed is also okay.....love strawflowers....have some old seed from my aunt that i'll try to sprout. i definitely want a big big garden this year. and will fill the freezers and cold storage room again! Chickens and ducks are appreciating less wind today. And the guineas figured out how to let themselves out of the barn through the horse stall. FINALLY. lol

@WLLady big big garden makes me want a big big garden too, until I remind myself I would have to weed a big garden ;)
seems like there are potatoes sprouting in the cold storage, so I will be planting whatever we didn't finish from last years crop, saves on buying seed potatoes.
Bit windy here yesterday, few chairs took flight, but not as bad as they predicted here either.
had to move the truck yesterday away from the large spruces, so though I would drive around the block to dry off the brake pads a bit, wow what an eerie feeling, not a soul anywhere not one vehicle on the road, made me feel a bit guilty, felt like I should be explaining to somebody that I am not going anywhere, just moving the truck

Good morning! It's still really windy here, but the sun is shining. A few things got blown around but not far. All the hens are still alive; I hope they stay healthy given the wet feathers from yesterday (silly hens walking out in the rain) and the cold temps last night.
DH headed out for supplies - wood for a garden gate large enough for the tractor; next will be a few groceries; then stop at the feed store.
I finished a little sewing project yesterday and was happy with the results. Although I did make note of how to make it better for next time.
Have been collecting 12 - 16 eggs a day - a marked improvement from this time last year!
Vegetable seeds are sprouting under the grow light.
All is well.... as it can be.

It was very funny because we went out to take pics at the weekend (we never see anyone) but passing farm gate egg signs all with SOLD OUT on them.
Not as much wind as we wer expecting here either.
Our zucchini has germinated very quickly indoors and DH wants to know if he can put it out in the garden now - :rubbingchin: hmmm....

Went shopping this morning, boy world has sure changed in 3 weeks.
I will probably never go shopping again.
Many confused people not understanding many confusing instructions at 8am, some looked like they may still be partially asleep. ;)
Couple of interesting observations, no flour accept "whole wheat', apparently we would all rather starve then eat whole wheat.
Plenty of toilet paper strategically placed beside piles of chocolate, not sure about the significance?
also noticed that in the past eight weeks I used 1/4 tank of gas, glad we didn't rush in to buying new car, we may not even need the old one much.
