Maximus wrote:QR_BBPOST Well. I have noooo flipping idea! I saw a Tikka rifle at the show in the spring that I really liked. But I think I'll just browse, try some on for size and hopefully end up with one to begin with that feels like it fits. Of course I'm open to suggestions :)
Then figure out from there.

Depends on what your shooting , distance your planning to shoot & what your backdrop/stop is . Oh & what kick your shoulder can handle . Luck

I have 3 different guns for different uses. 12 gauge, great all around gun, 22lr my first go to, and a savage axis 223 with a 3-9×40 scope and a bipod. I shoot ballistic tipped rounds for coyotes at a distance (I havent yet got to shoot one though) the ballistic tips shatter on impact creating a larger wound but dont exit the target. I chose this for coyotes and believe it to be my safest option when distance of 100 yards or more is involved. my best and furthest shot was 200 yards and bang on.

its fairly cheap but not cheaply made at all. its just savages lowest grade of rifle. mine has skull camo LOL! the 223 round can be a hard round to get your hands on at times. (same casing as the 5.56 NATO round....)

Come on down! you'll can help me dig em out ;-)

Thanks Killerbunny. That was my blue Isbar Rooster, Cloud. Had great hopes for him, but lost to a predator this spring.
Hoping I may get some good Isbar roos from the next 2 hatches.

sandy.....22LR for the rodent issues-groundhogs, skunks, coons. .270 for the yotes (a little bigger punch than the 223 but not hard to handle at all), a 12g shotgun with interchangeable choke tubes - chambered for 3 inch or 3.5 inch (although shooting a 3.5 packs a huge punch i find). make sure you get one that can handle steel shot, all the newer models can. Savage is a nice gun for the $. my 270 is a savage....love it! my 22lr is a remington and the shotgun is a winchester LOL. try them and whichever one feels natural to shoulder is the gun for you.
