The Iris I got from Joel and Jenn at Prosperity acres is now in glorious bloom. It's a lovely clear yellow colour. Didn't have any yellows before!

Just came back with skid loader from a nearby farm we rent...where we were doing hay yesterday. On the way saw something green in the road...a hoof-jack, stopped and threw it in the skid...another one in the ditch, threw that one in the skid too. Called all the farriers I know and sure enough I hit on the one who lost his tools on the second try, gonna get my horse shoed....Yeah!!

Good stuff Hayladee , pays to be honest . I still have my homemade one from 50 years ago . Not adjustable . Pc of pipe welded to a round flat pc of 3/8" metal . To tall for shorter ponies but same height as my knee . Sure saved my back & even horses that didn't like their feet held up seemed to relax when hoof resting on it . Luck

Here is a separate pic. It is the little blue one with some EEs for size comparison.
They are the only single comb laying green egg.
Currently only have my black rooster and blue hen. Lost a blue hen and rooster to a predator this spring.

good day everyone!
man, chicks are cuties!!!!
just had my hoof jack out myself. LOL. farrier was just here to trim up the horses....i used to do it myself a few years back, but now it's worth the $ to have someone else lean over and hold those feet up that long. horses were super! the vet came out for vaccinations and teeth floating (ted hasn't been able to chew his grain very well for the last couple of weeks). 2 years ago we had to sedate them both for the teeth floating! 2000 pounds of OMG trying to run away...would take 3 of us to hold them. this time i just told them to stand, and we were finished floating both of them in about 15 minutes! and ted only curled his lip once....we did need a stepstool for the vet though....ted is really tall LOL i swear MY teeth hurt listening to them getting theirs done!

just awful horrible headache today, ended up calling in to work and taking the morning off. had already booked the afternoon for appointments....must be a migraine. i don't get them often, but when i do i really wish i didn't. LOL.

got the cornish chicks to their new home today, ironically it's my horse vet's partner that is the chef (dangerous she says....his cooking is amazing and somehow she is still 100 pounds soaking wet LOL). I did let him know that the cornish will probably be headed to a new home when i have my surgery, so he was thinking about getting into breeding them. i told him he better be a sucker for punishment...and keep extra boys and girls! because they're an exercise in frustration! ha ha. it's all good.

sprinkler going on the lawn now. the grass is totally yellow. horses are trying to break into the hay bales that are behind the plywood in the barn. so have a bale in the field for them. sure hope we get some rain this weekend, we sure need it. still have to get some things into the garden...maybe later this evening. turkeys are still sitting, i gave them each 2 chicken eggs that should hatch in the next 48 hours. hopefully i can break them out of it. the one bronze girl is sooooo light! i have food right in reach and she just will not eat. i did get some sunflower seeds into her, and a few hard boiled bits of egg, but not enough. i'll get the cat food out as soon as these eggs hatch. not seeing any pips in the incubator yet, but they were all locked down earlier this week.

hope everyone has a super weekend!!!! happy friday!

Crazy day. Dentist appointment. Gawd, they cost a lot of money if you need some work done. Thankfully mine is a non-profit dental office, but I'm still going to complain about the cost.

Then I got a hair cut and a pedicure. If I was going to be fondled by the general public, might as well get it all done in one day and get it over with. (I hate people touching me!)

Ran into a 'friend' I haven't seen in a few years. Didn't take me long to remember why I put the distance there. Apparently I should dye my hair, it will take 10 years off of me. I was soooooo close, but I just figured nah. I just told her: I don't need to take 10 years off, I'm good the way I am and don't have anything to prove to anyone. That was some awkward silence for a moment. For her. I basked in it.

Then I had a meeting and when I came out, all my grouchies went away!!! A whole bunch of firemen and fire trucks. Yup. That made me smile. If I had the time I would of pulled up a chair and well, read my book? Haha!

I got home unloade groceries and sat on deck with a coffee. My chicks come up on the deck and wander around me and chirp up a storm. I'm pretty happy with my not-so-ameraucanas. They are going to be some pretty chickens these Easter Eggers. Most of all I love the variety. I have a bald eagle. A few black and coopers. I have a tan one with white muffs. A black one with grey muffs. I have 2 greys that have really nice feathering, although one has some red leakage on her chest. I really like the colouring variety. So I'm happy with their variety and that makes me happy.

Busy weekend ahead. Work (bookkeeping) and outside stuff to get done. I need to get some baking done too for JT. The freezer supply has dwindled. It's been hot and I haven't wanted to use the ovens but gotta get to it soon. Sure I could go and buy him peanut nut free crap, but the chemicals, preservatives and refined sugars, soy lecithin and the list goes on I am not interested in him having.

Do Indian runner ducks swim? I vision a bouy bouncing around in the water if they do. Just curious. Maybe. Might be interested in some runners.

Rib fest in hamilton next weekend. Oh the decisions that must be made.

I love popcorn. I'm kind of waiting for an intervention from family and friends.

Well that just about sums up my randomness for this particular Friday. Make it a good one y'all! Cheers

The final nest under the pines was deserted today so I went to clear out the eggs (I think birds had been raiding it). Brought the eggs back to candle for info and toss when one cheeped at me! Little dude just hatched in the incy which I keep on hand for emergencies. Put in 2 other eggs which may or may not be alive.
