Out of 41 eggs in the hovabator.... we have 32chicks...great hatch and lively and colorful group. I don't know which chicks came from which eggs though so will be interesting trying to guess their heritage. I have black, blue, cream, chipmunk colored, lilac colored and looks likes like splash, the grands love them and are already talking about setting another bunch.... and so I guess I will.... they have over rode my limited hatching willpower... lol and with three adults and 5 active young'uns in the house....whats a little chick dust??
Well I have to get out to the barn, had an older cow calve 4 days ago and she pushed her uterus, DD put it back in and gave her an oxy shot and left her to stand in the head lock for an hour....where she promptly must have tried to lay down and hung herself.... beautiful heifer calf then went to drink on the other new mom in the pen with her....limited milk on that lady so when hub left her drink I flipped and ran out and tossed her through the head locks to start on a bottle.....little bullhead would NOT take bottle ...fought with her for 3 days... ended up tubing milk into her to keep her alive. Yesterday had a young cow calving and she had it 1/2 out when she got hammered by an old b**** and fell, must have broke a rib in calf...blood poured from its nose and it died soon as it was out..... told DD we'd maybe try the orphan on her, smeared afterbirth on orphan and prepared to fight to get it to nurse .....the little
