Good Morning!
Bright and sunny here, playing musical chickens, 4 breeding flocks with a rooster at the helm requires some serious paying attention to who's fence neighbors whatsits face fence, so they don't come to a 'bloody' disagreement.
With help of PTO narrowed down the current hawk pair to Merlins, so probably less dangerous to chickens, more dangerous to song birds, which is a bit annoying, because after few years of very low bird counts, we have birds galore, I guess the Merlins have noticed.

Was a recipient of some serious complaints from birds looking for the willow, that used to be right here....... :)

A good day. Planting potatoes and getting pea net put up. Came in to find that annoying peeping noise coming from the incy! One baby BSW hatched. Over a day early. I'm relieved because I've been having a terrible time keeping the humidity up in the hatcher since lockdown.

3 now. The baskets to separate the pairings were a failure, they hatched and hopped the wall LOL!

Congrats KB! I love my 2 drawer hatcher! haha but when I needed to separate eggs in the same drawer I used an upside down plastic basket from the dollar store with the square holes all over it. it worked perfect as the chicks couldnt jump out.

Picking up my chick order this morning! New coop is so close to being done so they will have to go in the shower for a few hours! wait a minute I already have birds

in the shower. Ok I will put them in the ....wait there are birds there too.....ok..

Years ago. When we were just starting out with poultry, during our "acquisition " period, I brought a batch of "something " home and proceeded straight to "panic building" one of my boys said; mommy how come we always get the animals before we have somewhere to put them? I said dear, that's how EVERYbody does it!!! Some things never change :)

You have to flip them upside down....they cant lift the edges...just make sure they are deep enough they can stand up under them.
Congrats on new babies everyone. I just locked down with an annoyingly high percentage of non starters. Sigh. Due monday so we shall see
