Degenerative Disc Disease and Facet Joint Arthritis
well, that's done....
if someone is ever in london needing an MRI request to have it done at st. joes! it's got to be 6 inches bigger on the bore than either UH or Vic....felt like i could actually breath in there! yay! the people at all the hospitals are just wonderful, but this is the most comfortable machine i have seen, including our research scanners.

After facet joint injections-which havent been scheduled yet...unless surgeon sees something he doesnt like and then it will be surgery when he can do it.

Well surgeon saw something he didnt like.....as did i. Im actually going to order copies of the xrays...for "posterity" or something....
Another ct needed.
Pain clinic referral.
6 more facet injections.
Severe degenerative scoliosis of my lumbar spine. 60+ degrees. A "simple" L4 to L5 fusion is now a 12-14 hour surgery to fuse T12 through to pelvis...remove all facet joints and all discs. Decompression/laminectomy L3 L4 and L5. Rods screws cages....if the spine is stable above T11....spinal stenosis L3-L5...L4, L5 and S1 impingement. 2 facet synovial cysts....a 3rd small one forming. L5 is fractured....what next??!!
Recovery at least 6 months, more likely 18 months.
Once again...a holding pattern until a ct.....
But if everything is good i am telling him to book it....anything is better than this. Even a wheelchair is better if it means less pain...seriously....(insert a large sigh here). I wonder which roman god or goddess i ticked off in a former life.....?? At least recovery time means i might be able to move forward with some fun things we wanted to implement on the forum...or get my book started....just have not had time dealing with this stuff....
Oh well. This stuff doesnt land on people that cant handle it. Right??

"Ditto" to Ross and Robbie's comments. I really hope that the eventual result of this surgery will be a better quality of life for you, one where you are not having to deal with chronic pain.. Sending hugs and positive thoughts your way.

Degenerative Disc Disease and Facet Joint Arthritis
Thanks guys....just keeping my fingers crossed that everything is good above T11.....please please please....
I figure....in my old age....i want a scooter. a bright red scooter. with a racing stripe electric of course, because that's better for the environment. and a cane (have one i love already) and i will dye my grey hair that old lady blue, and i will CHASE people down the road LOL. cause i can! want to join me Ross? LOL. and, hey, anyone else that wants to join in....
i did find a physio that helped with some exercises yesterday, so working diligently, and actually fairly impressed that today i am no sorer than usual, so at least, hopefully, they're the right ones for me. so that's looking up.
and we have been agonizing over the horses.....but i think Martin is good with having them cut the grass-they're turning 19 or 20 this year, so they're ready to retire-their sires and dams all reached only 25 and 26 years old, so i figure it's going to be about the same for them. and lets face it, what horse doesn't love being on grass? we move hay with the tractor, that's easy. we have the barn for storing it. so i think the horses will stay since they're so close to retiring anyways. plus we have a lot of grass. may as well feed them. I'll get the posts put in this weekend so all we have to do is pull a gate across to move them around, and then we'll have grass cutting wherever we need it. i do have a home for them if it is too much, i just have to say the word, but they're so close to retirement that i can't guarantee they won't end up at auction.....which would just kill me....
i'm also going to see if someone around knows how to get in touch with the CN Rail guys that are pulling and replacing railway ties just near Appin and see if i can't score some railway ties for building some raised garden beds. I know people caution about the oil etc, but honestly they never rot....our ground managed to eat pressure treated wood in less than 2 years! so then at least i'll be able to reach to do the gardening. if they fuse to pelvis, i'll be able to bend at the hip and knee, and as long as i keep hamstrings stretched i should be able to reach the ground....
modern medicine is amazing. but if i travel i might just take the xray with me LOL. that's some serious instrumentation that would have to go in.....i guess something to be "proud" of getting through. hm....trying to be objective, there were enough tears this past weekend about it. no more. i will pare back on turkeys-all the munchkins will go, except my hubby's girlfriend. i'll probably keep a good trio of blue or lavender palms, and play with the genetics calculator and figure out which boy would go best with the red slate to get red slate back (they don't breed true red slate to red slate...so i'll have to figure out the mix). my reds have ticked me off, "brooding" to her is "sitting all day on eggs and then on the roost all night". yeah, not working.....all "non-essential" chickens will go....although...what is an "essential" or "non-essential" chicken? I'm not sure i can define that yet. for sure my 3 projects stay, because i'm the only one in canada with them, and as far as i can figure they're good new blood for the ones that have been imported to canada lately....those are rhodebars, and gold welbars and silver welbars. the rest...well, the old layers are slowly dying off of old age now, some are 6 or 7 years old. i have already got a home for the cornish when i'm ready to move them on. I have another 10 chicks owed to the chef, and after that they will go to their new home. not quite sure what to do with my show lines....was going to try to work to master breeder endorsement, but i think that's something that i might pass on now, in which case i'll try to find homes for people that will appreciate them.....and show them....i can always rebuild my rainbow basket of eggs later (i miss white eggs, sold the leghorns a while ago). ah well. as ross said a while ago, there's still happiness in fewer birds....and i gotta be realistic. i'll be posting what is for sale after the wyoming sale is finished next weekend. there's always the future to look forward to after.

Sorry to hear this news. Great that you found some physio that is working. We may be coming to the Wyoming sale. Hope to see you there.
