Flour works too short term....or wood ash....i hung a trail camera pointed at the stairs in my barn loft and finally caught our last coon on camera....now thr camera stays on....and is checked any time i remember. So far lots of cats (mine) but did find my one turkey had got out and was up there one day....and put herself back too. I hope you find out what it was and get rid of it.

What I like about lime is not only shows tracks but is a determint for coming back , I springle around all outside pens , seems to help , nothing is 100% less locked in tight , no out & small wire , good walls etc . .
