Kathleen Wynne & Climate Change

i read wynne's thing in the news about going gas free blah blah blah. i thought-hm....gas free, we will all burn wood, but NOOOOOOOO that's BAD too because it causes deforestation, in which case i will burn corn....but NOOOOOOO we need that to feed the livestock, we can't POSSIBLY burn corn, what a waste, and then i thought....well, all she's going to do is cause an underground market for natural gas. it's all over the place out here, people can punch holes and put in wells, and to heck with it all. she will cause an exodus of people out of ontario, and then there will be no one to pay her taxes, and then maybe she will grow up some and be a bit more realistic-who voted for these people anyways??!?! for me, we have a solar panel...it can't be that hard to disconnect and make some changes to our lifestyle since most of the time we are pretty awesome with our hydro. what gets me, why do i have to PAY delivery on the power we make in OUR solar panel, AND on the power that we suck off the grid?? I'm one property....and paying delivery fees TWICE. I'm paying to produce power....so you can bet that once our contract is over, we will be trying things out. LOL.

Do your homework BEFORE you buy the place. That's all I can say.

We should have saved the "living in Quebec" thread.
Real estate all over the place has risen in value, some of it to ridiculous heights.

Yep, but now power companies are scared that too many of us unplug. In Quebec their talking about charging people a minimum fee even if they unplug. The city of Ottawa wants to put meters on private wells and charge people for water even if the city didn't deliver it. In some places in South America private companies have gotten water sales contracts and laws have been put in place making it illegal to collect water from your roof.

Funny, 20 years ago that was our retirement dream - to go live on a boat. Fast forward 20 years. Now hubby has multiple significant health issues, I have osteoarthritis in both knees and one hip joint, and I am smitten with my dog and my chickens. We had a boat twenty years ago, so I know that boats are hard on the joints (I was the line person). A pontoon boat would work, but how would I be able to keep my chickens?

Jaye I'm just pulling your leg a little- I figure that without having to pay all those property taxes heck we could all afford one of these.
Actually there are some cool houseboats in Asia, families live on them with all their animals.

As some of you are aware, i am unplugged...best decision i ever made...i almost got into a business earlier this year with a corp selling and promoting net metering but i rethought it...the concept is okay on the surface and it solves a lot of hydro's distribution issues but you get screwed by contract..its not as lucrative as people think...that delivery charge on the already existing and paid for connection that WLL mentioned being one...there are more...best to just sever the connection completely if you can...the corporation and the government just isn't listening and the agenda is secret..follow the money...thats my credo when i wonder whats going on..
