That's a lot of ice BVF. We got nothing but oodles of rain here, thankfully. My treed area is a flipping swamp. Mosquitos will be happy :(

WOW BVF thats crazy! and for the buses to run is just plain stupid! they knew the storm was coming and ran them anyways. at the old place the buses ran 2 winters ago although the worst storm of that year was well underway. I picked our kids up in the 4x4 Suburban. what should have taken 15-20 min took 45+. sometimes I just dont understand the the bus companies logic. just because the road is clear at 6am dosent mean it will be in a few hours. heck we knew this storm was coming a week ahead of time.

this same storm did through up a tornado in Michigan, no idea if there was one around Chatham or not... facebooks Ontario Tornado Watch cannot confirm if it happened or not.

Thats Scary Stuff Rhonda! but dont think this only happens somewhere else.... Ross' s neighbor was surrounded while cutting his grass... Scary.

Well I almost blew up Lizzies car yesterday... got home only to figure out there is not a drop of coolant in it. its not in the oil thankfully! so I didnt blow it but I need to figure out where the heck it all went! it seems to be leaking around the thermostat. I hope its an easy fix.

Have a great day all!

Actually Al... the School board is boss. They tell the bus company what to do. The bus company is OUR boss, lol. They can try to tell us what to do... but when push comes to shove... us drivers have the last word, on whether we think a certain road is not safe.... and to avoid.... and I am sure if we just plain said "We aren't driving in this poop"... then what are they going to do?? lol.

Evening all, wow glad that ice storm didn't come south...we had a bit of rain but today it was bright and sunny ....with a chill wind. Went to a jackpot show with DD and her girls....I of course had babysitting duty...but it was nice to see the grands enjoying showing their heifer... won her class then shorthorn plus reserve champ heifer. A good day but I am soooooo tired, have the whole family to cook for tomorrow...an egg hunt to arrange and I still have the kitchen floor to clean.... just finished cutting up melons, pinapple, strawberries and oranges for a giant fresh fruit salad...will add blueberries, raspberries and blackberries tomorrow.....think I'm going to bed and getting up early. Happy Easter to all!

finally figured out how to add an avatar pic...those are two of my piedmontese babies....who are momma cows now. Have a bunch of yearlings in the barnyard and we feed silage....the chickens always sneak in and scratch the spilled stuff around the feeder...and those young ones are so curious....funny to watch them try to figure out what those chickens are...they'd never seen them in the field or the barn they grew up in.

Good evening everyone! Had a great day today. Delivered a cockerel to farrier (colin and catherine) and met the new kids. They are even cuter in real life lol. Also took a handful of eggs down to help a broody along. It was an really great visit! And thank you for the trade in preserves!! Then zipped up to see Al and Lizzie and the family. What a great setup the new place is!! The rain must have been something-some of the turkeys are completely mud coloured lol. Super happy birds. I saw the drum plucker in progress....impressive! Hope you can solve the coolant issue al!! Thanks for the eggs!!

Sarniatricia-your sweet potato shoots are at Als place. Closer than mine to you I am sure!! I PMd you but didnt hear anything. Hopefully you guys can hook up.

Then back home and hubby helped me get some more screening up to close out starlings very helpfully nesting in the loft with the chickens argh!!! All thats left is to get a door up at the top of the stairs and hopefully they will be excluded until they work a bit harder. Set up my gold welbar breeders and put a new wheaten marans boy in with some girls...still have a couple pens to fill/move birds into. Then a ton of banding to do and scheduling of hatches for orders that have come in the lasy week. Shaping up to be a busy spring/summer. :-)

Good evening, just got back from Ottawa Senators hockey game, 1st game we have been to in a few years, good game until Ottawa blew a 3 goal lead in the 3rd period to lose 4-3 in overtime.

Planning on roasting a Beltsville White Turkey and bbqing a guinea fowl tomorrow.

I finally picked up my Cream Legbar Rooster the other day, he got a bit of comb damage due to frost bite, but otherwise is a good looking boy. I also got two 1 month old cockerals to raise as back ups. Hens will go in the breeding pen Monday, will keep the roo by himself for a bit to make sure no issues then put him with the hens.

Have a good night.
