Good Morning!

Post by Brebis » Sat Mar 12, 2016 7:05 pm

Well thankfully all the birds have returned and though two of the older hens look shell shocked the rest seem OK even going out for the rest of the day. The last time this happened we lost 2. For the amount of feathers, I feared the worst!
Luckily, we have a lot of trees and bushes around the house and barn that I think offered dense cover that the dogs couldn't get into.
The 2 missing hens from the barn group, Suzie my best broody and Roz one of my first chickens, were coaxed out of their hiding places when the rooster finally came out of the barn-it was quite the reunion!
Will look at a camera, the last time they did this and we talked to the owners we didn't see the dogs over here until now so I expect we'll have a bit of a break from them. Were also moving in June so will be free of them but who knows what well encounter at the new place.

3 Bald Eagles flew over. Burr the Pyrenes told them to keep move'n on. He treats all flyers equally. As we don't have anything fishy around, they weren't interested in stopping. Burr will just have to wait for the Redtails to visit. Redtails keep him busy.

well crazy busy day today... buddy called last night to see if I could help him move his sister into a house she just bought. he didnt want to ask me because he couldnt help me when I moved... big deal of course id help... his help backed out on him at the last minute so him n I got about 90% of everything moved and they can finish all the small odds n ends.

I get home and my FIL was stuck in the mud over by the barn. I saw the van from down the road and laughed n said oh hes stuck! Pulled him out with the Burb no problem... I love my truck. he heled me get my truck out of the mud in december there but we had to jack it up and get planks under it. it took 2 hours n it sucked! He sure made fun of me hahaha!

i think somehow were even. LOL. :-)

How was that turkey Ross? it would have been a great day for it! did you get to eat outside?

Sounds like a rather eventful day was had by all, all around.

Glad your birds are okay Brebis! I was hoping all day that they would come back! YAY

Kathy put those clippings in a rooting hormone n stick them in dirt? see if they will root? I want to clip some off a pear tree from my daughters moms house n see if I can get them to root. my lame attempt to root the apple tree sticks in a barrel with willow branches and compost didn't work or rather i dumped it out before we moved and never got to see.

if you do get some to root ill buy them!

have a good night all.... Im tired but gotta go out n check on things...collect eggs...

Wow another great day out, we have had an amazing March so far. Cleaning out pens today (feels like I do this a lot)!! LOL

Broody silkie is sitting on eggs that I candled the other day looks like 5 Brabanter all fertile that I put under her, the Araucanas I could not tell, the blue shell was hard to see. They should be hatching by the 22.

Going to start collecting eggs today to set in the incubators for the end of the week..............so it begins!!! :chicken-hatching:

Yes, looking for another place to rent if you know of one!
We have a son in school here and we both work at Black River though on short layoff at the moment...
Do you still have black oilseed sunflower seeds? I'll probably need some in the next month and would love to get some from you.
