theres not much snow on the ground really but it sure is a frozen mess out. did i mention its all lizzies fault? LOL periods of white out. thinking bout heading to the bush n cutting wood. definitely not gettin feed... im not quite out yet... tommorow. better go work on the washing machine plucker... its been giving me some trouble... evertried to completly disassemble a washing machine? its fun haha. dont remove the transmission cover plate... its filled with gear oil... I made a big mess. LOL. but it is sooo cool how it works. Man older maytag washing machines are built like a damn tank compared to the new ones... I keep thinking im taking the wrong machine apart! removing the axle/transmission is where im at. once i get something figured out ill update my post n let you all know.

be careful al! nothings frozen! can't believe how much snow we got last night. the roads are a right mess, at least between my place and london. apparently south to st thomas isn't bad, but definitely throwing people into the ditch up on 2. it's packed ice, about 2 inches thick, so when you hit pavement it's like falling into a huge pothole! drive to fast and it hits ya pretty hard....the truck in front of me actually bounced his back tires off the ground going too fast into the edge of the ice. plows were out, but just barely...

can i have a snow day??! LOL. Al, Lizzie, take the kids out and have a great snow day! do something incredibly dirty-like find a ravine and toboggan or something (in the muck) in the woods or something and have fun!!! I'll be thinking of you while i'm sitting in meetings all day.

bad news last night, i found the one little cornish chick dead in the brooder. sigh. the rest of the birds are doing just fine. locked down a bunch of turkey eggs last night and doing an experiment, upped the humidity and decreased the temp 1C. we'll see if that helps at all. if it does, i may try it with the cornish, since the chicks are either wet or drowning somehow just before hatch....keeping temp the same and dry hatching didn't work, humidity up didn't work, keeping everything the same (not upping humidity) didn't work....

OC how ya feeling today? hopefully not too horrible! at least you won't be on shoveling duty!!!!

ordered the new livingroom cabinets for under the TV yesterday on the way home. was pleasantly surprised, it's crate designs, they only have little outlet things in big furniture stores, so stopped up in strathroy to order them. asked because delivery to our area is usually an arm and leg, and for them to finish assembling the two cabinets, drive them to our place on a saturday, AND move them into the house for us, 35$. wow. SOLD! so awesome. and tax free event too that i didn't know about. YAY! so that should be the last thing for the "redo" of the living room....then i can start seriously on the front room of the house, i've already taken all the measurements. OMG WHO BUILT THIS PLACE!!!!! you'd think a room would be sort of square or rectangular. um. NOT. the one side is 15'4". the other parallel side is 17'6"! and the one wall has 4 steps in it, the stairs, the closet, and then i guess they moved the wall just because they felt like it, and then did that again otherwise the door wouldn't open all the way. gah! old farm houses.....then there's a chimney in the way, and one little strip of plumbing up the far wall, sticking out 15 inches. and another 2 bulkheads....so. i think they might have been going for the worlds record on just how many corners they can install into one room at one time. should be an interesting planning endeavour.....

stay safe, warm, dry and unbroken everyone!!!!! hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning! Hows the arm feeling today OC? WLLady told me about it on my phone, when I was long in bed for the night, lol. Sucks that that had to happen! So..... meaning a re-do? Patch it now, and rebreak and set it properly? Sounds like a dumb idea... if thats what they did/doing.

Just got home 20 minutes ago, so that was about 8:30am. Usually home just after 8am. Roads here were packed ice. Husband gone to write his IPM course. So again, all the cow chores are mine. Sigh. My back is sore, must have laid on it wrong. Was awake since 4am... and 15 minutes before the alarm goes off, I go to sleep? Whats with that crapola? Tried and tried to go back to sleep. I hate mornings like that.

Good morning,
Thank you all for good wishes and offers of help!
I am bored already. Accept for the part of sleeping with a "brick" attached to my arm, I am fine.
The re-do is because this cast was done by GP and an apprentice Dr, until the "real" cast Dr comes in on Fri and looks at the exray.
I think.
They were all a bit vague, because they were closing up early because of the weather.
boy typing with one finger is much slower then two. ;)
Al i have one of those 40 year old Maytags, absolutely terrified of the day it gives up the ghost and I have to get one of those new shinny paper mache things.
So yah, stay safe! ;)

Thanks Al for throwing me under the bus lol. I did want a snow day though, missing spending time with my favorite little people. Board games and baking on the agenda for the day....hope everyone stays warm!!

I just do it as per chickens. You should be fine but if you have high temp and very high humidity it tends to drown them. I just put the eggs on cheap non slip matting with perforations. How many do you have in? I hatch to only 10 per hatcher. This makes sure they have enough oxygen. Just checked - hatcher at 99.5. I incubated at 100 - 101 (tried not to fiddle too much) but with 40 - 50% humidity. When they start to pip the humidity will rocket up anyway.
