My large red, whatever they were, are also starting to sprout, may keep some for planting.Killerbunny wrote:QR_BBPOST Just finished the last of our storage potatoes. Still have plenty mashed and frozen though. Because it wasn't so cold this winter the darn things started sprouting early!

Good Morning!
Wow, its wicked out!! I wasn't sure whether it was raining when I came inside at 11am from feeding silage, and bedding the cattle.... because I was soaked, I thought rain. But now I can't see out of my east facing screens. They are all totally iced over. So, freezing rain. A heavy rain too, I sure hope it quits soon. Spruce trees out front are white with ice.
Hubby went out at 4:30am.... so I knew all the contracted roads would be good. The town roads were slick. Stupid system. The town used to do all the roads. But the lazy city workers don't want to work nights/shifts.... stuff like that, so they contracted out the main roads to Miller Maintenance. So I was late 1/2 hr with the bus. I sure hope it straightens out for this afternoons run.
First thing I did before heading out, was put my beans to the crockpot and mixed up the sauce. I always put a wee bit more molasses then it calls for. A hefty helping of fried bacon... with a bit of the grease thrown into the pot as well. Sure smelled good in here, when I came in.
Thank goodness the cows didn't need a round bale today, so just their 3 buckets of silage, and one bucket into the feed cart for inside. Still, with my one piece snow suit, I was soaked down to my underwears out there. I hate that. The straw just blew up and into my face, and not where I wanted it to either, but the cows are just standing under the shelter anyhow, I'm not sure they will lay down, at least for now. They didn't even want to go out to the outside feeders to eat. I don't blame them!

Expecting some messy weather this aft and tomorrow so will stay in until Friday, one great thing about being retired. :)
Stay safe!
Thought I would make an exception and quote myself....
You know the one; when man or a woman make plans Gods laugh?
Well it was 1pm chicken was happily roasting, i had 1/2 hour left so was going to take the dog for a walk, slipped in the driveway, and since I had dog leash in my right hand, landed squarely on my left.
Put ice on it, but it was 'painfully' obvious that wasn't going to do the trick, Dh drove me to Dr at 3 PM thru snow storm and back home at 5 pm thru freezing rain.
2 bones broken 1 in forearm 1 in hand, temporary cast up to elbow, have to go back Fri for some fancy re-do.
so yeah, stay safe.

Oh no! The old Irish blessing: May the road rise up to meet you... it doesn't mean that!
