I guess the COVID thing must be affecting me on a subconcious level. We miss swimming very badly, it's our only social thing too and nobody in SWIM Canada has tested positive. I dream vividly and can usually remember dreams. Last night I dreamt that the swim team broke into the pool and we all went swimming with a "to hell with it" attitude. Weird!

Unfortunately the cold doesn't kill bugs LOL!
excuse me? freezing temps kill a lot of bugs in a lot of places - one reason mountain pine beetles are killing forests is due lack of sustained cold weather. plus freezing is a good method to kill bedbugs and insects on taxidermy specimens. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/ ... -1.5436844

Lose the attitude! I'll delete the post but many do survive very well indeed. I am sure others will appreciate your post.

hahahaha! i'm a firm believer that the cold simply makes the ticks bury further into the ground so they come out later in the spring. as long as they are out AFTER my turkey hunting season!!!! although doubtful i'll turkey hunt this coming spring....
besides i think spring might be cancelled if @Farrier1987 's post is correct (groundhogs day).
weather is headed to a HIGH of -15 next week. yikes. maybe at least it will be sunny with that cold....for sure they're calling for lake effect snow....which means HERE. so we are filling up the firewood in the house (maybe bring in extra too), and our tractor is busted so i am going to have to harness some physics to figure out moving hay this week....parts MIGHT be here tomorrow...or friday....and by then the temps are already going down....and the hay is going down too...lol.

i got a turkey egg yesterday. i'm not ready for turkey eggs. i put it (and a pile of chicken eggs) into the bread that is busy rising in front of the fireplace right now. I'm dreading the ducks laying. looks like i might get the muscovies to @Bayvistafarm in the spring if we're lucky....haha.

i do wonder where my leghorns are laying. slackers. i bet it is up in the hay. maybe i'll find it when we roll a bale out....easter is coming isn't it? oh, and great news today by email! my hubby's christmas present shipped....um. yeah. lol

My husband caught the little RIR yesterday and put her with the other two (RIR and older Cochin) in the barn. He's good at catching the birds, and boy, talk about a feisty little bird! I'm glad we got her in the barn before another real cold snap hits.
Because I shut the door to a coop that I had trouble cleaning (all was frozen), I went out at dusk today to see where the hens were. Most of them were in the other two coops outside; only six were in the hen house in the barn. This year, we did not shut the hens in the barn because we have more than we had last year.
