@Kbr42 ...yes of course...just let me know..when these 6 hens were laying regularly and not in autumn moult mode i had 4-5 eggs per day so thats pretty good in my book...
@KimChick ..i too, have Barred Rocks.they were my first birds and i still have 4 of the original group that i got from Freys...I have since then gotten others from various sources and have never had a nasty hen...one rooster early on was a handful and not nice but the one I have right now is a real gent altho a bit randy...I love the Rocks...great layers, friendly birds and long lived healthy stock

@TomK, we’re some of those the ones you got from me? The ones I kept were wonderful though sadly 2 were killed by a mink and the survivor was reformed and adapted right away to the new flock and is still doing well.

@TomK I wonder if my Barred Rocks are extra bossy and nasty because they are not the oldest hens. They are the third group of hens that we have, so they are in the middle of the pecking order. It is our Barred Rock rooster that is an excellent bird. We plan to keep one of his male offspring... not sure which hen laid that egg. I told DH that we're naming him Morley because he reminds me of the British actor Robert Morley. The cockerel has light coloured feathers above his eyes sticking up like bushy eyebrows.
