Dog crates work great in a pinch or if just silkies ,string some wire mesh in a corner using zip ties to tie it to things to stabilize and hold the wire up. Portable exercise pens work great too. This is just until you can make a permanent solution.

THANX for the tips....tho not many actual "Coop" designs hee hee hee
I had an "ah ha" moment whle fretting about this last nite.
A few years ago when I had dreams of breeding, I made a small multi bird compound.
It was made "within" the actual garage using the existing structure
Had made walls with 1/2 inch plywood, painted both sides with little cupboard door openings

Today I spent over 3 hours unscrewing all the plywood & unhinging the doors
Unfortunately most of the 2 x 4 walls weren't able to take apart
But I did end up with a handfull of 2 x 3 cut pieces & mesh panels

I think over the weekend I will do a few layouts using my existing materials
It's difficult to get supplies up there, & I don't know anyone there to help build it
(with Covid I think it will be Months before I meet any of the town folks)

ps - I already have 2 cats....NO MORE!
My feral cat became as fat & lazy as the indoor cat.
I think I would have better luck with a Rat Terrier LOL

PS - what is KB Ross?

It sounds like you are well on your way to a good solution, but if you change your mind and want the garage space for yourself, it's usually pretty easy to find a used ice-hut on kijiji, they are often metal clad and insulated and frequently have windows. My current coop is a converted hut and it has served me well these last 5 years. Also, if you decide to move your coop they are pretty easy to drag around.
Just a thought.

Once you make your wire panels rodent proof, it is easy to put them together using plastic cable ties. I have several pens made out of stucco wire (not rodent proof). The ties can be easily cut off if you want to take the pen apart or change it. If the panels aren't strong enough to stand on their own, you can use small fence staples or screws and washers to attach them to wood boards.
