Flat Panel Heaters
Re: Flat Panel Heaters
I purchased one of these this week...when it was on sale. As soon as i turned it on it was hot to the touch on the high setting. I hope it works in my coop.

Handy to have the thermostat with it. You should be good with it plus an incandescent light.

Yes, what @Killerbunny said ... an incandescent light or a heat bulb along with it should be good. That's the unit we have in our quail housing - 200 watts is good for smaller spaces. How big is your coop, @Kbr42 ?

Its 4x4. There is a heated perch in there as well. Im using Strawboss for bedding in there. Ive insulated the coop. I think they'll be fine in there with both going. My fall back plan is a heatlamp

Sounds like you've got it all under controlKbr42 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2019 1:36 pmIts 4x4. There is a heated perch in there as well. Im using Strawboss for bedding in there. Ive insulated the coop. I also have a thermocube.

One of the things we have in the works is DIY heated roosts, for the d'Uccle cockerels and for the main chicken coop roosts. Are you happy with your heated perch?

@Jaye , I'm not sure. Its new this year. I did tuen it on and nothing happened. I waited, and waited, and waited. Finally, several hours later the bottom of the perch was warm. So, i had to take the perch out and pull it apart. I fugured when the folks put it together they put it in upside down...lol its working now after i fixed it. I hope I'll like it. My D'Unccle is in that coop. I'm sure Waffle will enjoy it when i turn it on.

Thanks, @@Kbr42 . I hope your two will like it. We are planning on building one for our d'Uccles boys too. I am curious to see if they will use it.

I perch the birds every night just to make sure they are perching. I have about 50% that jump up. Sometimes 100% depending on who is in the coop. Silkies don't like to perch if they are too high. My perches are about 12inches from the ground. Good luck!
