horse (chevaline) is common in Quebec grocery stores. WWW is on the nose: most "pet" horses receive medications that stay in the horse's "system" and are not suitable for human consumption.

We just put down our 28 year old Hanovarian this morning. He took our daughter to great heights in the 3 day eventing campaigns. He was something to watch on course of a steeple chase. He certainly took care of her and she of him. A real partnership. He was one of the last foaled out of a great Hanovarian stallion called Sandor. Never looked at him as a meal ticket only as an equine athlete. We owed him a retirement plan. Just fortunate we were in a position to give it to him.

epona, i'm so sorry to hear. i know how i feel when i have to put down any of mine, and it just plain sucks. even though it's the right thing. good memories are the best though, and i'm sure there are tons of those, horses have a way of doing some of the darnedest things (not to mention getting into the darnedest places....)

we've almost made it to the holiday weekend.....hang in there folks! only a day to go! trying to back up data at work, says 7 hours remaining....hm. good thing i'm not doing that over a data plan somewhere! it's about a terrabyte-whatever that is, 1000 GB? or more? no clue. lots anyways. so i'm sure not going to sit and watch it go!
