Large fire in Minesing

Post by Giffen Farms » Sun Jan 01, 2017 7:56 am

The fun part of trying to remember what was lost and the insurance wants a detailed description/list of all the tools, our heads a hurting with trying to locate something or something close to what's not made anymore, mr Snap-on had been good with that but the smalls or custom made stuff from back when my grandpa had the equipment dealership or before that.
The original Shop was built in the 40's and then the main shop was built in the 70's (sorry if there is some spelling mistakes this picture of chickens make difficult to proof read).
In total we lost 4 tractors and a manure spreader, it hasn't hit me yet as to what happened but my wife says it will when it's all cleaned up with nothing to do, we sorted for days between wood, concrete and scrap and garbage, haven't seen a single socket or wrench yet - odd as I had a box FULL of loose extra sockets.

Chicken coop untouched!!! Not even so much as a charred board. Thought for sure we'd be eating roast peacock for Christmas

It's incredible to see those pictures. The poultry gods certainly stepped in to save your coop and birds! It must have got awfully hot for those birds in there. It could have been so much worse.... I'm sure that part has already sunk in.
Trying to remember what you had that you don't have any longer is a frustrating experience. I only know from a couple of break-ins I've had here. Not even comparable I'm sure to the list you are compiling! I know how my garage accumulates "stuff" so can only imagine what a couple of sheds might hold! Best of luck for a fresh 2017

Your birds have certainly been very, very lucky!! I'm glad no one, critter or person, got hurt.

Your insurance claim must be massive! Hopefully you remember the majority of the items. Good luck!!

Not a great way to start off the New Year. So sorry to hear this news. Thankfully no lives were lost.
