Even Richters has only the turmeric dried root powder and not the fresh root. ( https://www.richters.com/Web_store/web_store.cgi )muffin57 wrote:QR_BBPOST I love turmeric. My daughter told me a few years ago that you have to use it with pepper. It is really good in scrambled eggs. I add it to a lot of food I prepare. I've gotten into using many more spices in the past few years. Good to use raw and natural. I use raw ginger root, but haven't been able to find the turmeric root, so I use the powder. We grow and eat a lot of garlic too.
Moringa is a superfood that we use. it is a tree that grows in the tropics. Maca is another superfood that is a root belonging to the radish family grown in Peru. These powders can be used in drinks, such as, smoothies. Moringa tea is good. There are many health benefits from using these products. We sure have benefited from using them.

One thing we hear every year at training for water treatment, is that chlorine is carcinogenic. Known to cause cancer, yet "must" be in our drinking water, "for bacteria". It accumulates in the body, like heavy metals. It seems like no matter what we do we are being doused with chemicals. Eat shower, breath, swim. Nothing like dunking yourself, willingly, into a public bathing chemical vat (another reason I don't swim anymore). My cousin runs the county water department, and doesn't like discussing water with me. "It meets government standards" is all I ever hear. In Canada, the amazingly beautiful progressive country we live in. Our standards are pretty low.

I'm not saying get rid of the stupid people, I'm saying do away with the warning labels and let the problem work its self out.

The toxins in your water are available online in each municipality.
As the toxins increase over the decades, magically so does the allowable 'safe limits'. Funny how that works.
I'm battling with Culligan right now. I have an intensive water purification system.
Culligans business exists because of toxins and because they essentially promote how toxic the water from the city is. Of course their filtration systems are the end all be all (and really the dissolved ppm is next to nothing on my meter compared to city water) so yes it removes pharmaceuticals etc.
However, what is missing is culligan doesn't recycle not one component of their filtration system. Not the filters, not the cartridges nor do they even recycle the salt bags for their softener system.
They sell a product(s) by removing toxins from your tap but they just dump it back in the ground, and as we know, it always makes it way back to the water.
I'm far from done with them. I have some further investigative work to do, snooping, videoing etc., then it's time to call the papers and reveal the polluters!
That is of course after I take down the MOE, the provincial and federal governments re: IWT''s.
Water is a hot topic for me!!!
Let's talk about a Nestle! Not let's not. I've got a life to live today :/

I was dealing with replacing the pump down my well a few years ago and was telling a friend at work (city girl) about it. She gasped at the thought of me drinking water right out of the ground and insisted that was not safe lol. She said she used bottled water only to drink and treated water only to cook. I just had to shake my head because she truly didn't see the insanity of our conversation!

:)
Did you ask her where does she think her bottled water comes from?..........and what happens to it before its bottled?
on the other hand I hear ignorance is bliss...... so perhaps better if she doesn't know.

Yes I did. Blank stare and a blink blink as the wheels turned lol. Honestly I had no clue that some people had gotten that far away from nature until that moment. Not sure who was more misguided-her or me. Big eye-opener for me but pretty sure she walked away from that interaction still feeling in the right.

Iv been so thirsty fishing that Iv drank lake water directly from Lake Huron, many times actually LOL. Well heck I'm surrounded by a drink, so what if theres fish in it. the person I was fishing with looked at me kinda stranger than usual, I just said what? its prolly better for you than what comes out of a tap and plus the fishing is hot, I'm not guna quite just because Im thirsty! I wouldnt do that in many bodies of water though!

old comedy song from the 1950's I learned.
Music: Tom Lehrer
Year: 1960
Genre: Comedy
Country: USA
If you visit American city,
You will find it very pretty.
Just two things of which you must beware:
Don't drink the water and don't breathe the air.
Pollution, pollution,
They got smog and sewage and mud.
Turn on your tap and get hot and cold running crud.
See the halibuts and the sturgeons
Being wiped out by detergeons.
Fish gotta swim and birds gotta fly,
But they don't last long if they try.

Pollution, pollution,
You can use the latest toothpaste,
And then rinse your mouth with industrial waste.
Just go out for a breath of air,
And you'll be ready for Medicare.
The city streets are really quite a thrill.
If the hoods don't get you, the monoxide will.
Pollution, pollution,
Wear a gas mask and a veil.
Then you can breathe, long as you don't inhale.

Lots of things there that you can drink,
But stay away from the kitchen sink.
The breakfast garbage that you throw in to the Bay,
They drink as lunch in San Jose.
So go to the city, see the crazy people there.
Like lambs to the slaughter,
They're drinking the water
And breathing (cough) the air.
