My only thought is all that participate must be able to stand my brutally honest comments... I do not sugar coat things...as stated I am honest ... I will point out the good and the bad in a professional manner but if you are looking for me to say something is quality and it is not.. sorry not the one to be your judge lol. Some ground rules would need to be set up... Ie Must be owned and in procession of the exhibitor( no birds from others or birds that have been sold) , must be a side profile picture ( so the bird can be assessed with integrity and accuracy ) ... must be submitted by a certain date .. ( no late or additional entries ie ringers once the entry field has been set ) after the fact... Just some ideas.. not willing to organize but willing to be a judge for you if needed.

Thank you for the offer, you are a prince amongst men :)
Brutally honest would be just what is needed.
If one picture per entry would be sufficient, I would be happy to organize.
Now the all important question, is there enough interest?
So please raise your hand if you would participate and if yes, what would you exhibit?
Yes, yes, yes yes! I am in dire need of brutal honesty. I know my birds can be 10 times better, but I'm at the point where I can't see the forest for the trees, don't have time for poultry shows and exhibitions at this point, and having friends and neighbours and people who've never seen Jersey Giants go OOH and AHH doesn't accomplish anything except stroking my already too large ego. Please, please, please take me down a peg so I know what I need to fix and improve on! But what about things like eye and foot colour, that can be hard to see in a picture? And age and weight should be listed in the post I think.
But, yeah, DEFINITELY interested, I would be 'exhibiting' black Jersey Giants.
Troy, you are the best, thank you!

so....who wants to set this up? LOL. Poultry_admin and I were discussing-a big difference between BYC is they fundraise and can offer prizes etc, where we don't (otherwise you will be inundated with ads....). And a very clear set of rules would have to be established, I have seen online poultry shows where comments and critiques were made public and they turned EXTREMELY nasty, and i have seen others where critiques were all private and they also turned nasty and judges refused to judge. I have also seen them work out well too. The nasty ones were mostly people that submitted "insert child's name here" bird to the show expecting cute and fuzzy to be "judged" as "cute and fuzzy" and all of a sudden they haven't placed, child is extremely upset, overzealous parent is upset because child is upset, and child is their world, and everyone must win but the comments are all accurate, faults and DQ for wrong leg colour or whatever, and nastiness ensued.

Troy, you are extremely generous! Thank you!

We have a super group of people here, and I am sure that we can make it work somehow. and now the rub-I know that poultry_admin and I are both dealing with too many irons in the fire right now. We are keeping up as is, but I do not think that we can devote the energy/time to organizing this. We are more than happy to help out with posting photos etc, but for the organizing of it-setting the rules and regs etc, if someone else would like to be promoted to "PTO helper" status, we can certainly do, and we could really use the help. So if you are interested, please PM me or one of the other admins, and we'll have a powwow on PM....

To be honest the assessment aspect of this is far more important to me than the fame, power, money, etc.

I don't envision this as a discussion on Judges opinions.
The entry forms with a name of owner/exhibitor with a "profile" picture of birds get sent to the "secretary"
The Judge receives the pictures only, Judge posts the pictures with his comments and possibly placement,
and the Thread is locked.

Maybe it should be called a Judge's critique, rather than a Show. Then you have no expectation of prizes or placings. What size would the pictures need to be? - you may want to set a standard size for all pictures sent in.

We are going to wait for Troy to tell us what he needs from us.
*******************************************************************************
I have offered my services as a Secretary, so Entry forms with a picture would be sent to me, I would assign Exhibitor number and send the pictures with the Exhibitor number only, on to Troy.
After the Judge has added his comments, he would send the pictures & comments on to our esteemed Admin, and Martin could post them and lock the thread.
There aren't going to be too many birds entered, but sticking to a "Show" format is going to be helpful to people who may wan't to enter an actual show in the future.
