Hello PTOers...FYI it was 9 degrees the other day and officially Fall comfy sweater time in Caledon...cochins are free ranging and have somehow managed to stay alive amidst weasels, coyotes, fox, hawks, owls, dogs, etc. I guess it is truly survival of the fittest here...they seem to love pooping on our multiple staircases so i have to "tip toe through the tulips" when i get home...i was hosing off their from our porch and noticed what looks like the earthworm skins about 2" long. Should i be worried?

Has anyone tried using wood pellets for chicken litter. Has anyone ever tried keeping chickens in their garage? Too dusty?

We use pellets and they are amazing! We used pine shavings before and they stuck to the eggs and were a real PITA to get off, but the pellets are great in the nesting boxes. They absorb liquid and it's easier to keep the coop looking clean with the pellets.

Thanks @labradors I will try the pellets! So I am 99% sure we have 2 roosters neither are crowing and all are getting really large. I went to get chicken food 2 weeks ago and our local feed store ran out. They said duck feed is similar. Does anyone see anything wrong with feeding our cochins duck food? No eggs yet.

Depends onthe age. ABove 10 weeks ish you need calcium
