Events in last 3 months

Post by KimChick » Wed May 21, 2025 9:57 pm

It's been about 3 months since I posted last. Time sure does fly.
Since then, a few things have happened.
First, we had a mink attack inside the enclosure. It got in through the barn. It killed 7 birds (both chickens and guineas) and injured 3. The 3 were brought into the house, and put in a dog crate. Two of them survived.
Then, a coyote showed up during the day and killed one guinea fowl.
During all this, a live trap is set for the skunk to go in anytime... anytime now... we're still waiting for that event.

Argh! I'm so sorry! Try a tin of wet cat food in the skunk trap-punch a hole in the unopened tin all the way through the tin with a nail and then run a piece of wire through it and wire the tin to the top far inside corner of the trap. Worked like a charm for me for skunks and coons. They can't dump the tin out of the trap, and have to step on the door release when they pull on the tin. And the tin isn't open, so they can smell it but have to really work at it to try and get anything from it.

Hopefully things settle down soon!

I will have to tell DH about that. Thanks! Because we haven't caught the skunk yet.
