Dealing with stress

Post by G Williams » Mon Nov 21, 2016 12:15 am

When I was a young man I got into a situation where I gave my personal best and It wasn't enough for my partners (family); even though things ran more efficiently and yields were better than they had been for years.
We expanded beyond what our equipment easily could handle against my wishes. I was the one stuck with Running a corn drying system 24 hrs. a day and Loading Trucks and keeping up with a modest livestock operation in my spare time. After 3 years of that I burned out and realized that My life would never change unless I left. It took a while to get back to normal but I never had the same mental capacity that I had before.
Some 30 years later I look back and think that even though I left a lot of sweat equity behind, I did as well alone as I would have with partners and with a lot less stress.
If your Life situation is getting you down sometimes you have to change it.

Sometimes just realising you can change your life if you wanted to is enough.

Dealing with stress

Post by Killerbunny » Mon Nov 21, 2016 6:18 am

We both used to do the commute to TO for the jobs and the "big bucks". One year we realised we were spending so much time (3hrs a day) and money commuting we didn't have lives except for 1 or 2 weeks a year , they didn't even like us taking that off. I quit when I got a new micromanaging boss who hated me, Vian was laid off for not approving sub standard materials for pharmaceutical production. He was under a gag order or law suit! Spent 4 months on and off in the north country canoeing. We didn't owe anyone anything because we could see it coming. Moved to Brockville (we're scuba divers) and gutted a house which we'd bought because of the 5 acres. Numerous min wage part time jobs. He works as a marine mechanic now but just laid off for the winter.
We are still better off and live fairly simply in an energy efficient house, grow a lot of our own food. No long commutes etc.

I sat here for 20 minutes, bawling like a baby.
I thought about what I would share "if" I were to write a reply.
I tried to figure out why I would tell anyone, & if it would help me deal with things.
I decided to write the reply & decide Afterwards IF I have the balls to post it.

Well I have been typing for over an hour & still was not finished.
I get up for work in 5 hours & I do NOT have the balls to post it!

"BUT" it DID help me just typing it out & that's a good thing.

I call those "Invisiballs" :D Almost all women (and men) have invisiballs. No matter how broken you think you are, or how cowardly you may feel, one day when you really need them, BOOM. You're going to need a wheelbarrow for that set of big ol' balls, better start shopping now

My reply to your question was almost 3 years ago ~ I can't count how many times I have re-read all the posts bc of how much it affected me.
I "HOPE" my "invisiballs" are almost fully developed ~ looking for my XL wheelbarrow for my set of Big ol' balls!

This thread was most interesting. Going through some stress right now, and not sure what to do. I don't think hugs and ABBA are going to cut it :(.

I did want to mention something amusing. The neighbor, next-door-but one, thinks that he can shout and swear and do the Primal Scream thing whenever he mows the lawn. The trouble with that is that everyone can HEAR the profound language over the sound of the lawn tractor and it sounds like a helluva fight going on. The worst thing is that it's a large lawn which takes a couple of hours of the foul language. I hope it helps him because it sure doesn't help anyone who is subjected to it :(.

Wow! and I just had a first actual face to face with our "dream home" neighbor, who is still convinced we control the level of water in the wetland he build his house in.

Trust me, I didn't miss a trick.
Although I have not heard from MVCA after I asked them if we really need to take out the logs as the people next door insist, because they are beloved by the Blanding's Turtles, and we would welcome any input from MVCA, I have not heard back, but our neighbors must have, judging by their reaction.

YEP.....my stress is "HIGH" right now!!!
I KNOW what to do about it, but my balls aren't fully developed yet.
I know regardless of whether they are developed or not - I GOTTA DO THIS
TOO many "Years" (almost 15  ) have gone by sitting on the sideline
Trying to be meek & avoiding taking action is NOT working for me

ABBA - "NOOOOOOOOO"
Kelly Clarkson & Britney spears both have songs "STRONGER"
Phil Collins "I DON'T CARE ANYMORE"
Gwen Stefani "WHATCHA WAITING FOR"
