DH just texted me to tell me that our dog Aiden caught a rat this morning. :-o
I thought I had seen one in the run the other day, but couldn't be sure, because it was so fast. He is up to date on his shots, so is there anything else I should be doing? He didn't eat it, just disabled it (broke it's neck).
So, it's official: Aiden is longer just a spoiled rotten pet. He has a job. ;-)

Good for him! What kind of dog is he? Where is his victory picture?

He's a standard poodle. Sorry, DH didn't get a picture of the remains. They were unceremoniously dumped in the green bin which was picked up today.

Not only is he very handsome, he is obviously very smart.
Never had a poodle, but they are supposed to be smart.
Smart enough not to eat a rat anyway, I guess they aren't a very good eating, the only thing our Lab declined to eat, otherwise everything else seems to look like lunch to him ;)

You should really praise him and pet him and tell him he is a good dog. Other than that, all should be well.

Yes, poodles are smart dogs and good hunters.
My mother had a miniature/toy poodle that killed all the ducks that had found a "home" in her pond.

I think Aidan is pretty safe since he didn't eat the rat. If he had, you'd have faced the dilemma of whether or not the rat had eaten poison or carried worms.

What a GOOD dog :).

even if he had eaten the rat it's just a general deworming, and honestly if you have a farm and they eat all kinds of weird things just deworm every quarter routinely.....one of the heartworm pills also acts as a dewormer (that's what we do)....so every month the heartworm is given and all the other worms are taken care of.
good dog!!!! extra treats for most excellent behaviour!! LOL

Good morning,
Bit of a rant here, couple days ago my trusted dishwasher, instead of gentle door opening, dropped down with a very unhealthy CLUNK, so, just like any sane person I said....I will deal with it after the Holidays.
Last night the dishwasher gave up the ghost, nary a light on the beast.
So back to Dr Google, it would appear there is a recall on our dishwasher, #1 risk of fire from Power cord, # 2 door pulley giving up.
I guess the Good news is that the thing doesn't work, because I turn it on when I go to bed, and if it had gone with #1, that would have been one unpleasant vake up call.
Back to baking coconut macaroons out of leftover egg whites left over from baking Christmas cookies. :-)
And then washing the dishes by hand, darn.
