Apprenticeship opportunity
Hydro One PWU Electrical Apprenticeship Program
The Hydro One / PWU Joint Electrician Training Committee (JETC) is responsible for establishment and maintenance of an apprenticeship training program as provided in the Collective Agreement between Hydro One and the PWU.
The JETC currently requires Electrical Apprentices for work throughout the province. The apprentices will initially be hired in a central location and remain there for approximately 3 weeks of orientation and safety training. They will then be transferred to various Hydro One locations throughout the province. The jointly administered program is a 5 term (8500 hour) apprenticeship that, when successfully concluded, provides the Electrician: Construction and Maintenance (309A) Certificate of Qualification. Applicants require their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent) including Grade 12 Mathematics and English, plus a Senior Science or Electrical Shop (or equivalents) to qualify for the position.
All applicants must apply through the application system available through links at the Hydro One (www.hydroone.com), the Power Workers’ Union (www.pwu.ca) or the Trade Up for Success (www.tradeup.ca) websites.
Only applications received prior to February 5, 2016 will be considered for positions available in 2016.

Re: Apprenticeship opportunity
This is a great opportunity for those lucky enough to be selected. Good pay/Good benefits/ Good pension and you won't have to spend tens of thousands on Post secondary education.

No, I work at OPG nuclear, but we have the same Union as Hydro One and so we get the apprenticeship notices.

Re: Apprenticeship opportunity
Hydro One recruits every year at this time. They give preference to people who are already employed in the electrical field, and the list of applicants is always a mile long, so they can be very, very choosy. Tough gig to get in on, but if you can, the pay and benefits are redunculous.
