@Poultryprincess did you just say "IF there is something @ Mount Forest"???? LOL. i say forgo the genetic testing thing. Your family and relatives will be your family and relatives forever. Mount Forest is ONLY twice a year..... ;-P
guess i should start gearing up for spring thinking about mount forest....i've already got at least 5 emails looking for fuzzybutts come march....

I do this genetics thing for a living-i study neurodegenerative disease, and there are mutations involved, and i spend my days looking at how genes play with proteins and RNA and make the whole mess happen, and they try to fix it, so....there's one brain and it's a giant mess of "stuff". and it's all the same whether it's people with a disease, or trying to make a "better" chicken. it's all just genetics. once you know the basics, it's actually not that bad...like most things, once you know the basic 2000 word vocabulary and the lingo......

LOL fuzzybutts is just what i call chicks....i can't help it. they're fuzzy. with butts. so fuzzybutts. so not really a breed. i was getting geared up to hatch but then snow happened again yesterday in a big way, and now i'm feeling less like getting ready for mount forest. sigh.
i hope you can find some leads for your mom....not sure where to start except with her last known location of residence and county/country records. if she was in canada there may be record of property sales and purchases, registration for health cards in the municipality or something. most counties have a records archive associated with the municipal offices. unless your mom or another relative are "on" ancestry.ca/com or something like that i'm not sure that's the "best" way to find them, although it may give some leads if she's in a different country.....good luck!!!
