More cherries picked, enough for a second batch of jam and some frozen. When we put these trees in we though they were purely decorative but they have lovely tart cherries every couple of years. Today I was picking with the chickens around my feet and the cedar waxwings protesting just above my head. It doesn't get much better!

Good morning,
Bright and sunny and heat is already building up, so I guess summer has finally arrived
Chicken runs still look like a waterfront, but they are happy to bee outside, time to try to stem the jungle in the back yard, hard to figure out where to start.

Good morning all!
wow, finally a spare minute.....before i go and answer a PM and then see what's going on in the lab....
Our strawberries finally finished. they were YUMMY this year, not huge, so i think i'm looking for a new cultiver with bigger berries, but soooo flavourful! and the raspberries and blackberries are in full swing, and amazing. not enough yet for jams, need to expand the plants a bit yet, but the way these things spread it won't be long probably!
the guineas have figured things out in the garden. they LOVE asparagus beetles. yesterday we didn't see or hear them at all! but they were back in the trailer just before dark. yay! this morning they beelined for the asparagus again. they can eat all the bugs they want. i swear they didn't even touch their feeder the last 2 days!
physio was what i thought almost too gentle yesterday.....and i'm still broken today. go figure. i have scar tissue impinging on a nerve in my left hip somewhere, so working on that....but i'm still standing up much straighter.....
had a scare 2 nights ago. i needed to treat birds (mites....oh yay, tis the season). so i got out the pour on ivomec, waiting for the roosting and then do them while they're sitting on the roost. well, one rooster flies down all freaked out...okay, so i get to floor level to get him, he flies over my shoulder and i found out i can't really "duck" anymore....so i ended up totally off balance with nothing to grab, and went down butt first and onto my back. nice soft poo filled shavings...yay. okay, not bad, the pen was clean, but still. i had shavings in my hair, and of course i'm wearing a nice fuzzy hoodie...shavings ALL stuck all up and down it.....i'm laying on the floor thinking HM.....rooster is looking at me...."whatcha doing down here?". and then trying to feed me food pellets and shavings....and i'm thinking "wonder if i should call my hubby"....hm....."i actually feel pretty good down here". "hm....nothing hurts...". so i rolled over and stood up. with ZERO pain whatsoever! if i had fallen like that before surgery i would have been going to the ER screaming in pain! so i finished up the rest of the chickens and puttered back to the house....brushed off all the shavings (outside)...told hubby how dumb i was, and thought i'll be sore on tuesday...but nope! woke up feeling just fine! so. YAY! i try not to throw myself on the ground, but if i have to i'm glad to know it's not going to hurt as badly anymore! LOL.
looks like fuzzybutts headed out probably on the weekend, yay! and i'm going to select my breeding stock to move forward with over the next few days. also some started birds headed out to new homes too. should reduce the feed purchases.....
hope everyone has a wonderful day. it was beautiful, cool and sunny this morning here, just PERFECT!

Good evening... Road trip tomorrow morning, leaving at 4 am, so I should be in bed, but we are watching Les Miserables movie, my youngest daughter is in a theatre camp putting on the play and her audition is next week.

Sold a trio of my breeder Beltsville White turkeys today to make room for new BSW turkey breeding stock. I am starting my BSW flock over (except for 2 hens I am keeping) so I can picking up 20 new poults from Cirrus Hill Farm, 10 of each of the 2 bloodlines that exist. So 6 hour drive to Cirrus Hill in Meaford tomorrow morning, then a quick stop at Bulbs of Fire, in Penetanguishene, for some BC marans hatching eggs then home.

Well good night everyone.

Time for bed.

Jim, I'm glad you're here. everytime I think I have too many birds and/or I'm a bit chicken crazy...I read your posts... and feel better.
