I love the colour of the eggs WaupoosCowgirl. It makes such a wonderful pallet. We need to get some white egg layers for our mixed flock. Lots of green, blue, brown and chocolate but no white egg layers. They will come this spring as we add more variety to our pen.

Looks like mine got the memo too - youngsters have started laying and the old girls are giving a few too - except Wonky Toe who thinks it's a great idea to moult now! Hope I don't lose her she's very sweet and friendly.

I love the dark eggs, never realy felt the need for white because in my mind they are the IGA eggs
and the Wyandotte eggs a re very light, just a good balance for the blue eggs of Ameraucanas, but the dark ones are so rich looking, if it didn't mean another breed, I would be all over that :)

I think the only reason I want white are to make the dark ones look that much richer!Ontario Chick wrote:QR_BBPOST I love the dark eggs, never realy felt the need for white because in my mind they are the IGA eggs

White Eggs would definitely make the Black Copper Maran eggs from the Maran Pen look darker. As well, white Eggs will be fun especially if they come from a cool looking bird like an Exchequer Leghorn. They would add great colour to my pen of egg layers. They would go along nicely with the Speckled Sussex, Wheaten Easter Egger, Australorp, Buff Brahma and 3 Blue Easter Eggers. That means more chickens in the coop - I think I might be catching the Chicken frenzy bug.
