Good Morning!

Post by WLLady » Wed Dec 07, 2016 12:18 pm

well, not quite morning anymore-but i'm only behind by 12 minutes or so. LOL.
i smile every time i see the pic of the month in the reply box. it's a good one! LOL. i got that exact look from one of my roosters last night when i grabbed an egg from a nesting box with my reacher thingy. "what is that??? you aren't going to poke me with THAT are you???!" LOL
my rampant anxiety attack seems to have calmed down finally.
Windy windy here today, and cooler....-2 all day it looks like. none of the waterers were frozen this morning, so that's good. hopefully they aren't going to be an issue....i do have some new ones if hubby needs them. For now it's the mad scramble to get things settled at work. i hope that the move is going okay, so far no emails so that's either really good or really bad. guess i'll find out tomorrow.
i'm about to go and get dinner into the crockpot, and then get back to work on this paper.

don't forget to vote for the picture of the year folks! and we are also taking submissions for the January photo contest!!!! We have received a couple, but have room for 10!

So glad the pre-op went well for you Kathy!!. It always makes me think of going on a scavenger hunt, they send you all over the place to take pictures of this and samples of that. Last pre-op I had took 3 hours!! Well a year ago today I had my second knee replacement. So glad both are behind me and I will be able to enjoy the Christmas season this year. Two Christmas's in a row recovering was not fun but with hubby's business and my job it was the best time of year for me to have them done.
Wishing you all the best in your surgery Kathy, I know recovery will suck but looking forward you will be feeling so much better

This time i actually got to sit in one place (okay, i had to go across the hall once for "swabbing"...don't ask....MRSA testing) but i swear it was a total steady stream of people in and out of the room....i finally just said "hi, i won't remember your name, it's not personal". the poor nurse was trying to go through the form i had filled out at the surgeon's with previous surgeries etc and she kept being interrupted by the cardiology, or internal medicine, or anaesthesiologist, or the pharmacy students (i think i saw 3 of them....twice each), and then the internal medicine resident's supervisor-she was funny, "hi i am (whatever her name was) i really don't need to be here because my resident actually passed her exams but i do have to be here because she can't independently practice until january, so nice to meet you and you are fine to go ahead, i see no problems. goodbye" LOL. then the nurse would come back in and go through another question and then someone else would come in....i think it was only 2 hours ...

I hope in a year i'm doing as well as you are FRF!!!! this is the 3rd year in a row for crappiness for me and my hubby. i am ready to just heal and get on with life. :-) it's all you guys that are keeping me sane....lol.

Hope all goes well, WLLady, as it should. You will be up and around in no time. Remember to sit or lay beside a sunny window while recovering.
And wishing you a speedy recovery.

Good morning!
Sunny day here, time to put in the heated water bowl bases, before they are actually needed, because it's just a question of time now :)
I am still using the "cookie tin and light bulb" system and I think I replaced one light bulb in the last 3 years, so pretty happy with them, especially the initial cost. ;)
Some pullet eggs slowly starting to appear, but in general terms this is the latest slowest molt and latest start of laying I can remember, not completely sure what the cause is.
Starting to add a bit of WCG lovely sunflower seed to the scratch for evening treat, I am sure they will appreciate it as the nights get colder.
Have a good one!

Is it ever snowing here today! I had some appointments to get to this morning and had to stick to the main roads that were much less slippery than my preferred roads. I realize it will get a lot worse than this in the coming months, but the first real blast of squalls and bad roads is always a shock to the system. The colder temps are nice though - maybe we'll be ice fishing sooner than later. We had a chicken math moment around here on the weekend and picked up some light sussex hens. For once I wasn't the problem. I showed hubby the picture and he decided we should go get them, though he tried to make it my decision (he's been wanting a light sussex hen for a while now). Good thing the quarantine pen was ready for more birds. I should probably suit up and go let the turkeys outside now before I get back into my work. @WLLady those red palms love every excuse to be outside. Have a great day everyone!

Our version of the "Winter Palace" is up despite the help of a bunch of curious turkeys and the wind which of course got up this am when it was time to put the plastic on. Vian suggested charging rent until I pointed out that they are paying with their 2 last born sons. They don't know yet!

haha! love it KB! Argosgirl-my bronze and red slates were allowed outside yesterday. OMG did they ever LOVE it! even with the colder wind blowing they were out ALL day long!

Checked all my heated dog dishes today (i should call them chicken dishes....) and they were all thawed! even the ones that i repaired by putting in new thermostats, which was at least 8 of them this year. So i must have done something right because it was -4 in the barn this morning (it's not insulated). been snowing off and on here today. i think we're into it now. The highest temp for the week was yesterday at +2. we've been pretty lucky down this way so far this fall.

Cleaned out the freezers last night. found some porkchops. YUM! thought we were out. nice surprise. And managed to get all the deer into the one freezer now. for sure we are not going to starve. I'll have to send my hubby to the freezer to bring up whatever is to be cooked....but hopefully i'll be able to cook pretty soon after surgery. :-)
i've started putting leftovers into containers and putting them in the freezer as freezer meals for january once hubby is back to work. so then at least i just pull one out and pop it in the microwave and have a nice warm lunch with little work. and they're even in the kitchen freezer, on a shelf i can reach-bonus!

lab is almost moved....had to give the students a bit of a nudge to get moving, but once i did it went fast. Just waiting on some equipment to move (not ours-but it's in a space that we were given and i need that desk now), we should finish moving everything today. Then the culture room moves tomorrow and everything gets washed and cleaned up for decertification. whoohoo! almost done. we should be totally into the new space before i leave. That was actually the top thing on the list to be done before i'm gone. phew.
this aft is meeting with the young lady taking over most of my duties while i'm gone....poor thing will be overwhelmed totally. which is why i left a week overlap....

alright. hope the weather isn't too awful for everyone! have a safe and good day!
