Good Morning!

Post by HappyHomesteader » Sun Oct 02, 2016 9:50 am

I agree that you have to give them the room to make mistakes...better they learn that mistakes happen and that you are there for them no matter what. It's no secret that we have a lot of children, or that I'm a little crazy when it comes to food!

Lunch time has gotten so bad that schools are now offering healthy snacks to the kids (which they attack!!!). Most of the lunches are full of nothing but processed garbage (some get almost no lunch at all). With before and after school programs a lot of these kids are at school for up to 12 hours, the get home its time for dinner, bath and bed, where is the quality time? What is happening to family?

Have you seen some of the attitudes on these kids? They start telling their parents and teachers off in kindergarten!!!! If you can't get control of a 4 year old how the heck are you going to manage when they are 16? And I'm not talking about children who have special needs or behavioural needs either.

Compound that with the sub-par education they are receiving in public education and we may really be in trouble.

OK rant over lol.....I've got to attempt to get up and get these joints moving, work to be done (the rain can screw off anytime now lol)

Honestly I hate the sound of the situation you describe, it really sounds like there is emotional abuse going on. Good Luck to the lad.

Morning all!
Martin and a friend are off to the firemans breakfast this morning-hopefully to return without needing lunch lol. Move kids to outside yesterday and everyone is totally hyper in the coop with the extra room to roam and loving it!

Argosgirl i am so glad theyre doing well. They are super birds. The tom knows dogs...and once he has enough he will walk away and do something else. He used to follow my lab around when he free ranged before we had the neighbours dog come in and chase. I think he knew the dog would find things to eat lol.

Up and down all night last night with my back. This is wearing thin. Very very thin. Every 30 minutes or so. And then thunderstorms with incubator going with precious custom hatch lol. Power never flickered but i still dont like lightning that much. Its only been 3 years maybe 4 since being hit i think....still not a fan lol
Nice day today. Looks like less rain!! Yay. Have some posts left for the turkey pens and the one empty pen from the reds to clean out. Then moving pullets today-legbanding and into breeding groups. They started to lay a couple days ago!! And herbs still to harvest. Shocked we havent had a frost yet! But i better do before i lose stuff. Hope everyonw has a great day!!!!

Hello all, a dull day here today, need to cut the grass but too wet. Spending the day making a bit of chili, organizing and sorting through some boxes/bins of random stuff and marking some high school chemistry and physics assignments for our sub-par education system. lol

I hope everyone is having a good day.

"Sub-par education system"....hmmm... I have to disagree with that. I see a system where teachers are expected to do more with less and be pseudo parents at the same time. Kids are harder to teach as their brains have been "rewired" due to excessive video games (they have shorter attention spans). They are not allowed to fail: they are pushed forward anyways. Every kid gets a medal for showing up, no more winners and losers. Bullies now can torment kids at home through electronic means. Male teachers are dropping out as the envirenment is not friendly to them. "Zero tolerance" policies bring police in for situations that teachers used to deal with. Parents now challenge teachers instead of supporting them. I don't know the answers, i just know its getting tougher for all involved.
