Severe Storms Slam Southern Ontario

Post by muffin57 » Sat Aug 13, 2016 11:33 pm

I know a lot of you have been waiting for rain. I hope everyone stays safe. Scary weather. At the beginning of the week we had a very hot humid Monday and then Tuesday a total cool down with periods of rain this week. I had to close some windows at night, as it was so cool and you guys were getting all the heat. What extreme weather. We were getting your tornado warnings on our tv. I hope that you got or get the rain you need minus the tornadoes or havoc.

We got our rain, minus the tornadoes. Just some gusts of high wind. It was great. Not sure how much rain we got in total, but everything looks a bit more alive again, and it cooled things down nicely. Looks like it will be a warm humid one again today, though.

We somehow got less than 2mm. I've been yelling at the clouds for a while now...

We have been very fortunate here weather wise. Although we had the hot humid weather, we have had lots of rain and no tornadoes. We did have some scary windy weather. I thought we were going to get those tornadoes that they had in Manitoba recently, but thankfully we didn't. That must have been quite frightening for the people in Oshawa.

We finally got rain. Almost an inch. Chickens didn't even seem to mind getting all wet. Really humid again now that the sun is out. At least we got enough rain to lift the burn ban.

We got 1 and 3/8ths of an inch. Most of which sank in. 1st rain in August and half as much as July. Too late to save the crops in lighter ground, but enough to keep the crop here going. Our neighbour's pasture will take a year to recover.
