Foal watch- hot standby.

Post by Dominion Link » Sat Mar 12, 2016 9:42 pm

Was about to hit the hay, but Camera 1 is showing that Eyesa Quick Glass (Belle) is very antsy in her stall. Looks like her foal by Look At Magics Form (Luke), might be joining us tonight. The mare didn't have any wax a couple of hours ago, but her behaviour indicates that she's in labour right now....... First of 4 race foals due between now and the 3rd week of April.

Long, sleepless night (mostly for Chantelle), and no foal yet. Mare was on the go all night, but hasn't laid down yet. She's just starting to get a bit sweaty now. Going to give her a small dose of banamine and hopefully the foal delivers in the next few hours.

Three more of our own mares left to foal out, plus another for a friend, and all sired by Chantelle's stallion. Stallion's name is Look At Magics Form (Luke) and he was the AQHA 2010 Canadian Stallion race champion. Very hopeful for this particular crop of foals as these are the best mares that Luke has bred to date. His first foal to race was a home grown filly last summer who took third and first in the 2 races she ran. It's a lot of work to breed and train race horses, but very rewarding to see them grow, develop and mature into athletes.
