A really big biological filter pumped with a windmill. also heavily planted, it will smell for a while but once established you could almost drink it haha just like a fish tank, a very big one! also fresh water will be added constantly through the eaves trough from the coop and a overflow running to the field. should work perfect.

well I solved my drainage issues in front of the coop, and under the rv coop by punching a bunch of holes in the metal skirt and digging a bunch of trenches the last heavy rain fall.
Today I dug even more trenches and levelled out some of the ground filling in some of the puddles in front of the bird door and under one of the quail hutches.
lots of work but rewarding to watch all the water drain!

Wow! That's a lot of digging. If I remember that spot outside of your run in, close to the field, that must have been a good 6 in dig to get that down!
You rock!

Thanks Martin!
haha yup. well I started at the edge of the field working my way to the pond. I left a few dams in the way so it didnt flood the trench completely but left the water flowing out in order to maintain the slow slop. man was I ever relieved when I was done and it worked. but this is not the finished product. i have a big o that will be placed in the trench once i the ground dries up a lot!
oh I also had to dug a shallower trench from the firsT puddle in the field to another... The water level evened out and the flow stopped. man you should see that second puddle... its a lake now LOL.

That looks like a whole whack of work Al, lucky you have the energy.
If you can gat your hands on some barley straw, it will keep the ground around the pond somewhat dry, give grass a chance to grow and barley straw keeps water clean, we used to throw a bale in to the fish pond and it worked wonders.
Also, I think Gill may need a kitten soon.
