I like your tactics thegawd. Aggressive offense. Eliminate on sight and ask no questions.

So would you keep the ferret outside? Put it out on a leash? Would the scent alarm the birds too?

Keep the ferret in your house, and spread its litter or bedding around your coops. No, the birds are not seemingly bothered by the smell of weasel urine/scat. The sight of them, however, will freak them out. Weasels as pets are not my personal cup of tea, but I know two people who do this and swear by it.

And having an intact ferret, that still has its scent glands, in your house, will help with social distancing as well, as nobody will want to come into your house. lol

my grandma says she kept the ferret outside. in a purpose built cage hanging on the north side of the chicken coop. it was a pet and was not altered. it got to run around outside everyday and came back to them and to its cage at will. ferrets are cute, smart ass little devils.

man are they ever expensive now a days. but then again I havent actually really looked into getting one. I should. my grandma still swears that I need one.

We mixed a few bags of quick-setting self levelling-grout and poured it on top of our plywood coop floor. It has a smooth finish which makes coop cleaning easy with a shovel. I figured it would keep pests from chewing up the floor and the wood from getting wet and rotting. Thought of using vinyl but it was quite expensive.
