OK so I have been "scratching" away on the coop and hope to have it all done and ready to stain today!

If you look at the first picture closely there is already a big chicken and an egg...they want in now!

That's awesome! So impressed. The most I have been able to build by myself is a nest box condo. I was quite proud of myself when I completed that - until I saw this topic. There's no way I could build a coop like you have.
It's obvious that at least one of the chickens approve: laying on bare board, and leaving her calling card.

It is amazing what you can accomplish when you have to and set your mind to it! My hubby did the floor for me and the roof, I did the rest with a lot of help from Youtube!

The plan for ventilation is that we are going to leave the majority of the eave over hang open and covered with hardware mesh, the coop ceiling will remain exposed. There are two large window that operable and have hardware mesh for screens, I will also be making screen doors for the two exterior doors. We will also have two box fans mounted near ceiling level and angled down at either end of the coop. We will see how that goes.
