The inside is getting there, hopefully by monday everyone will be moved in and have access to the big attached run. I am at the point where I am refusing to buy anymore wood so I am scrounging the yard, barn, garage, basement etc. (The outside looks good for the neighbours).

WOW ~ This is turning into a Poultry Palace!

A few questions WaupoosCowgirl ~
What is planned for Beneath the Elevated Brooder pens?
Is there a heat source in the brooder pens? If so what?

What did you use for the floor?
Is there mesh under the plywood>
I'm constantly putting "Patches" on my plywood floor.
The rodents chew thru it quickly.

Last question, the windows.
Do they open? IF so, is there wire mesh on them?

I LUV that there is great airflow.
GOOD JOB!!!!!

Under the brooder/grow-out pens I have hung nesting boxes, I plan to leave the rest open. I made sure everything was at a good height for the broom/shovel. I think that it will be a good place for some of my less dominant hens to hang out and avoid the drama of the coop!
I am using heat lamps with the protective guards in the brooder pens.

We used plywood on the floor, the entire building is elevated off the ground so no burrowing under ground and then trying to eat your way to the surface. There are enough critters around here dog/cat that the rodents haven't been a problem as of yet. Over at the barn that is a different story, the rats were totally stressing out the flock I had over there and undermining the stone foundation. Once we turn the cows out on pasture we will try and eradicate the problem on a larger scale!

The windows are fully operational and I have put 1/2 in welded wire mesh over them.

It's a beauty, I see another career in your future, if the Farming thing doesn't work out ;)

Beautiful! Do you plan to paint the floor with that black rubber waterproofing sealer paint stuff? Sorry, don't know the exact name of it, but I think thejonesboy used it - he would know. I'm told it makes clean-out easier.

Yes, either that or stain or a vinyl floor remnant, I am undecided at the moment. Our duck coop has a stained plywood floor and is a year old and is holding up great even with the added mess of ducks!
