Congratulations! I usually keep them in the house for about 3 or 5 days. Then I take them out with the flock and make sure they can have a dust bath. They want one after sitting on the little ones. They will take care of the chicks. Once they are done I usually bring them back into the house...the chicks know where to eat and drink inside...not so sure about outside. Then I bring them out every day for a few hours....then when Moms are ready they won't come back inside anymore. They will integrate the chicks for you into the flock. Good luck!

I put a dust bath (sand/diatomaceous earth) in my brooder already, hopefully that will help! Thanks again!

@Rossman I don't use DE around my brooders because of the chicks. Don't like it to maybe irritate their lungs.

Actually, I haven't used DE in a long time. I use ash from my fireplace. It works much better and the chickens like it.

Thanks @WLLady , they are very patient moms lol They dole out a peck here and there to lay down the law, but clearly not with any force.

@Kbr42 There is one chick thats small compared to the others, and weak. Let nature take it's course? when the hens move, it just immediately tries to go back under them, not playing/frolicking like the others...

Is it eating or drinking? Do you have vitamins in your water? Honestly, it's never a good sign. I try and help it. I give them scrambled eggs and get it to drink....and eat......sometimes I'm successful and sometimes I'm not.
The way I look at it, if I do nothing it will keep hiding under Mom and when 'nature takes it course ' it has known the warmth of a Mom. But I'm a never give up kinda girl. So, I would feed it and if nature takes its course...it still had food and water in its belly. Not very helpful......
