I had 2 broodies (silkies)sit on eggs together, hatch them out, they were getting along great for 3 days then one hen decided the white, and black chicks were not hers and was actively pecking and chasing them away. She was removed and now the one hen is looking after 12 chicks, I hated to do it but she would have killed them and I didn't have the room to put her in a separate pen.

So, I started hatching in January of this year and finished May 26th. Here, by far, is my favourite hatch of the year. Her name is Dolly and was in my first hatch in Jan. She layed her first egg at the beginning of August.

Oh I love her "bustle"! So cute! Is that just the way her feathers grow, or is it that her back is way up and her tail down? I know next to nothing about how Silkies are supposed to look, except for cute and fluffy lol!

Well Mumsy (#87) is sticking with her little 11 week old poults! This week we started putting her in a separate coop and she seems relieved to get some peace and quiet! Every morning she runs out to the kids though and takes them off on the hunt.
