#8 hatched through the night but was laying cold and lifeless this morning beside Little. She sat back down on top of it and her last egg so I left it for now to see if it might come back. I figure if she's still sitting then it's the best spot for it but if the chick does come back and I need to help I can tuck it and the last egg under a heating pad for the day and pop them back under her tonight. The last egg still hasn't pipped but I can hear it's little beak drilling away in there. No frantic peeping but still talking. Its day 25. Little has been sitting for 32 days.

Aw, that's too bad about #8, but it's still possible that it will recover.
Fingers crossed that the chick in the last egg hatches successfully. If it's still active, there's a chance for a good outcome. Biscuit hatched on Day 25 (or was it 26?), just before we were going to call it quits on the oven hatch. So ... don't give up yet; Little hasn't. :-)

#8 didn’t make it and Little left her last egg. It’s in a safe/warm spot and still chirping. I’ll slip it back under her tonight and see what happens.

So it became apparent this aft that the last chick wasn't going to make it out without help. She started chirping like crazy and then suddenly sounded very weak. She hadn't managed to pip yet. I scratched an "x" in the shell and made a breathing hole and left her for a while. Long story short she was stuck and unable to move so with 3 nieces cheering her on I helped her hatch. She's recovering now and I will try putting her under Little tonight. I hope she makes it or there will be 3 very upset girls.

OMG, I hope the little one makes it too. It would be such a shame if it didn't pull through after such a long struggle and valiant effort. I'm hoping for the best.

I often help them out, it should be fine.

I was out in the coop at the crack of dawn to make sure the little one didn't get left in the cold when Little got up. She's unsteady on her feet compared to the others and gets bounced around a bit but she manages to get back under her mom. So far so good.
