Said welcome to the world to the first oven chick when i went down to check at about 2:30. I heard it cheeping when I came into the kitchen. Still nothing happening with any of the other three eggs.I really hope that at least one more hatches.
OMG seriously, I admire your persistency, I would have given up long time ago, if you need the "black chick" is available, no charge. :)

I think you should name it "Cookie", something cooked in an oven and as in "one tough cookie"!

Congrats on the little one and I hope you get more...Biscuit, Muffin.....

Hey, thanks, everyone! Great name ideas too!
Number two just hatched about 45 minutes ago. This one has barely stopped cheeping. She hatched with what looked like a bit of yolk and albumen came out with her, and there's a bit of bleeding from the navel area. Not sure what to do about that. Can anyone suggest something?
The egg that I thought was questionable when I did the water candling looks like it may have pipped at the wrong end. I only noticed this recently, so is there anything I can/should do with it?
The last unhatched egg doesn't look like it's pipped yet, but it was a promising one when I water candled them, so not sure how much longer I should give them both. Our kitchen is a sauna. lol
I have stuck one of those hand warmers underneath the towel that the new arrival is laying on, in case the reason she's cheeping is because she is cold.

She's probably cheeping because her navel is open. I had one hatch that way and i had to put it down a few days later. It was eating and drinking and it's navel had closed but it clearly got infected and it's belly swelled up. It cheeped non-stop too. I had read to put iodine on two qtips and carefully press it's navel closed and try to hold for a few minutes and it should knit quickly. Then apply iodine a couple times a day and keep brooder very clean. I did try that but it had dragged it's navel all around the incubator before I saw it.

THanks, Happy. I will try that ASAP. Just cleaning the laundry room area to set up the brooder ATM. Need to get the healthy one out of there and settled first I think.

Thanks, OC. That's a very kind offer!
How old is your black chick now? Do you think it's still possible to integrate with my "not even a day olds"?
