Well I guess the joke is on me. All this time I thought Little was sitting on a barred rock egg because it was bigger and not as round as my Cochins.
WRONG. So this egg was laid 4 days after I put 15 Cochin eggs in the Bator and not one developed lol.
No head spot so Def a Cochin mom.

Little and her baby who for some reason I've been thinking of as a boy. This chick is 2 weeks old today...Still manages to completely disappear under mom's wing but not for long!

Just updating. It's been interesting watching the dynamics of Little raising this one (soon to be very large) chick. The cochin chick can't do things that Little thinks i should like fly or jump. OEGB chicks are very good fliers. Cochins are not very athletic lol. Up until last week Little still kept her wing over her baby at night...even though the chick was now bigger than mom. Little's Baby (which I guess is her official name) will be 7 weeks old in a couple days. Little has been squatting for the rooster the past few days and isn't giving all the treats she finds to Baby. But they are still inseparable. I'm wondering if their relationship is morphing into friends. Little's 2 hatchmates are gone and she was a bit of a loner before so maybe this will work out. The little rooster is ecstatic to have another woman joining his harem. Baby has made the transition from mom finding her treats to running to Sherman when he calls out with a treat. Sherman hasn't tried any funny business with her and I trust him not to. He's the ultimate gentleman.
