She hasn't completely decided that she's serious but Little spent the past few days keeping golf balls warm.
Weezie Little is such an awesome mom I may just let her hatch some of her own chicks before I put her to work on everyone else's eggs.
She even has a bodyguard/lookout to warn her of any Intruders approachingWeezie Little is such an awesome mom I may just let her hatch some of her own chicks before I put her to work on everyone else's eggs.

Thanks! I had 10 barred rocks when I started and knew them each by name. Hubby didn't believe me and thought I was just randomly saying a name because nobody would know the difference. After some teaching he could identify which was which from across the yard lol. I will never forget my neghbor catching him calling "Come on Mrs. Beasley...Come get some candy" lmao. Poor guy lost some man stars that day.

It's funny you say that but I can tell my girls apart by their faces. I had 2 black australorps that no one could tell apart and I'd point out their different faces and expressions but they still couldn't tell LOL!

I think if you watch them and know personalities and tendencies it's easy. When hubby was struggling and mixing up Bitchy and Dottie I pointed out that Bitchy looked like she had cleavage. He never mixed them up again! Typical guy lolKillerbunny wrote:QR_BBPOST It's funny you say that but I can tell my girls apart by their faces. Well Little spent the past couple days trying to steal eggs (she had stopped laying her own). One ended up smashed and eaten on the coop floor so I let her sit on the 3 she already had and then gave her the next one that got laid. Just wanted to see if she was serious. She came flying out of the coop this morning like a tornado and ran around gobbling up scratch and grass, had a big drink and some pellets and right back to sitting. Only problem is the Cochin girls are very curious and harassing her. So I'll be moving her tonight. No idea if her eggs are even fertile. We'll see if she gives up.

Little is still at it. I put her in a flower pot with some shavings. Shes raised off the floor a few feet to keep the nosey's away. She wasn't very happy bout being moved and I had to put a makeshift roof over her to make her feel better. She has 2 Cochin eggs and 2 BR eggs. I'm going to have to candle to hopefully remove one because I think 3 would have been enough for her.

Well I candled Little's eggs last night and only one was fertile. Hopefully that little one makes it out for her. I may try to give her whatever hatches out of my incubator (only 5 developing in there) but they are 4 days ahead of her egg so I'm not sure she will go for that. Anybody tried that with chicks a few days apart?
