you did everything you could. sorry. i just did in a really weak on from the recent hatch, hadn't eaten or drank and wouldn't get up. so...

Sorry that it had to end badly for your chick. You did everything that you could. Sometimes it just isn't meant to be.

Thanx everyone for your kind words.
I was still willing to try but chick kept getting worse.
The swelling just got bigger & I knew it was in pain from the crying and shaking.

I wrote to a chicken vet whom I follow online.
She told me there is Nothing that can be done.

I looked online for a Humane ending for the chick.
The thing that I read over & over is "it's Not about ME, it's about doing what is needed for the Chick!"
Hubby was asleep & I just had to do what I needed to do for the little one.
I felt like crap but I also felt calm it was done.

I'm sure you have ALL felt that queasy feeling of pity watching an animal suffer.
I'm going to concentrate on the other Healthy 18 chicks...& Enjoy them!
